Good morning,

I would like to know if someone in this group has similar situation. My mom received an email May 1, 2024 about the refund of $510 and no explanation in the letter on what that refund is for. Then May 11, She receive email about her meeting the criteria of being a sponsor, Her husband and the husband dependent already receive a Biometrics and Medical request. So we are very confused. We called the contact center and told us they can only see refund initiated and no reason attached and should just wait for the officer to get back to her for the reason as we submitted web form inquiry. Does it mean that the application has been refused?

I'm kind of guessing here - but my guess is that she paid the old fees and they are returning the part that might have been notionally for the right of permanent residence fee (as being insufficient for the current amount). If I'm right she'll eventually get a notice to pay the RPRF.

Only way I can think of to check is to compare what she actually paid with what she should have paid acc to current fee schedule.

Absolutely ridiculous that the IRCC still has not provided a final decision on our file. How on earth does it take months to do a bloody security check or verify someone's eligibility; which apparently is all that is left before we are issued PR cards. They had the bulk of our info. Aug 2022, were sent additional items requested late Nov. 2023. Three separate offices have looked at our info, and still we wait. Fed up with this incompetent nonsense, especially when there are no red flags with our file.

Hello,

I'm filling my husband PR. I really want to apply soon but have questions.
I'm taking a maternity leave. Can I support my husband PR? If I can, what do I prepare to prove if?
Also, the signature part, when I click the part nothing pop up. So I can't do the signature. how did you guys do it? I opened the file through Adobe.
And, if I apply PR, it's automatically applying Open Work Permit too?

You can provide evidence of your maternity leave payments. You can also provide a letter from your employer saying you are on maternity leave. You could also provide evidence of your savings.

No, the work permit application is not automatic. You have to wait until you receive AOR (2-3 months) and then submit a second application for the open work permit.

I can't answer the signature question.

Thank you for your answer and I have a question about work permit.
I'm planning to visit my family soon. will it be okay to leave Canada before receiving AOR?
OR after receiving AOR will be better? OR I can't leave Canada until the process finish?

Are you the sponsor or the applicant? If you are the sponosr, are you a PR or citizen?

I'm a sponsor. I have PR and supporting my husband.
You need to limit your time outside of Canada since you are a PR. As a PR, you must be living in Canada to quality to sponsor your husband.

Limit your trip outside of Canada to 3 weeks to avoid any risk of impact to your sponsorship application.

1. If I leave Canada, is there any best timing? like after receiving AOR or after OWP etc
2. If I leave Canada during process, do I need to report to the government?

1. Probably best after AOR. Your spouse cannot apply for the OWP if they are not in Canada.
2. No.
