Hi everyone, I applied to renunciate indian passport at BLS Brampton (application date Sept 26th). How long would it be approximately until I get the certificate.
I have to apply for OCI immediately after since I have tickets to India booked for Nov 29th. Do you think I can still make it to India?

4-6 weeks for surrender
6-8 weeks for OCI
OCI by end of Nov will not be possible

I applied on 25th August - Walk-in BLS Brampton.
Acknowledgement Date: 8th September
Document received at Toronto (OCI Processing complete) - 29th September

Application Status

(Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping) - 3rd October.

Waiting for OCI dispatch.

I have the exact same dates as you.
We should be able to track it on the OCI website after Oct 10, 2023 (based on current timelines)..

I started at 15 Septemeber. application recieved status on 21st Sept on BLS but still no status update at OCI enquiry.

We are applying OCI for our 4-month-old baby. My wife doesn't drive so she never applied for a driver's license. Her Ontario photo card has old address on it. Getting the updated Photo card would easily 4 - 6 weeks to deliver, so that's not an option. Our Rogers internet is in her name. Can I upload the Internet bill as her proof of address along with an explanation letter? I have the rest of the documents. It is just my wife's proof of address that's been bugging me all day. Secondly, we are planning to click passport photos ourselves and get them printed from Walmart but had a few questoins: - is it okay to do so ourselves or does it need to be from a professional photographer with their stamp on the back? - how many photos are needed?

As I understand most Walmart with won’t click 2X2 or won’t give you a digital copy, best option is Henry’s and is also less pricey than Staples and Walmart

Looking at your post above you never said true accounts.
The timelines I mentioned are the avg timelines, for some it comes earlier others comes even later on.

Hey, I hope someone can guide me from here. So I recently got my citizenship of Canada on sept 9th and have already got my Canadian passport as well. With Indian Visa's suspension, can I travel on my Indian passport( within 3 months grace period) and apply for surrender certificate in India and later get exit visa FRRO?

Application package + 345 CAD MO for CGI and 7.40 for BLS

Repeated calls to BLS to check why no information regarding my application on their website

Finally was able to speak a sensible lady on the call center today afternoon

within a few hours, BLS website shows update as under process.


hoping that rest all goes well
