No, they could not it seems. My parents have very limited knowledge of technology or the internet. They require help in doing even basic tasks like sending a screenshot, printing or scanning a file. These are the main reasons why I could never help from the abroad and they had to seek help from others locally. Also, they have gotten really old and seeming to forget things. Right now whatever information they are giving me is through a neighbour who can log in for them but he does not have much knowledge about visa application form either.
My parents went to meet this agent today and he told them that he disclosed in the form that he represented them so it is not an issue. Apparently, the neighbour got confused. Also, the agent asked my parents to write an explanation letter and provided some guidance which seems to be very similar to what has been suggested in this forum. I know most of you here suggested to fire the agent but there are no better alternative than him in that town. The other alternative had been that neighbour who is kindly trying to help but clueless in this matter. In fact, it was his suggestion in the first place to mention how the agent made the error but after reading replies from everybody here and also a consultant, came to realize that my parents should fully take the blame and responsibility in the explanation letter. Sure, the agent has made a mistake but time is running out and right now he can help my parents first hand in uploading their words to the migration officer.
