I am Canadian Citizen for three decades. I sponsored my wife who is US citizen, we lived in Canada for 6 years and she met the requirements for Canadian citizenship.
She applied for Canadian citizenship in 2019. After that I got a job offer from US and we moved there. In 2020 we had our child born in US. In 2022 my wife became Citizen.

Now my child is US citizen, being born to a US citizen (at the time of birth she was US citizen but her Canadian citizenship was pending). I am applying for my child's Canadian Citizenship passing down my own Canadian citizenship.

I am wondering how to answer for Parent 2 (my wife):

My parent was/ is Canadian Citizen
My parent was not/ is not Canadian Citizen

Your wife was not a Canadian citizen at the time of the birth of your child, hence option 2
Will there be any impact on my wife's citizenship? Since she moved out of Canada before her Canadian citizenship oath. I believe legally we are obligated to satisfy the requirement of citizenship up until the date of application. We are not obligated to stay in Canada till the day of oath ceremony, or not pursue a job opportunity abroad in that period. This is my interpretation.

Also choosing option 2 will not be a lie, since at the time of child's birth she had not taken Canadian citizenship oath yet. I hope so. They can still dig and see that she became citizen right after baby's birth abroad.

@RedD33r don't worry about your wife's citizenship.
There's absolutely nothing in the Citizenship Act that prevents here from leaving the country before the oath.

Also, if you want, you can answer no, as others told you already, and go the extra mile by adding a small letter of explanation saying that she got her citizenship since then. It's overkill, but if that put your mind at ease, go for it :)
