I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but the form has changed from the earlier posts hence posting the question again: I'm in the process of filling out the OCI application,
marital status- married
relation with root indian -SELF
Are you applying OCI on the basis of indian spouse - NO
spouse details are not marked mandatory
Is it necessary to fill out the spouse information?
if yes, which passport info? since only indian passports contain spouse info
Is marriage certificate necessary to be uploaded?
my indian passport contains my spouse info. In this case is marriage certificate still necessary??
Someone pls help me out here. thanks!

Yes you should include spouse info... at the back of the OCI card your parenrs name and spouse name is mentioned.
Canadian passport if your spouse has one..
Include marriage certificate to be on the safe side, don't let BLS make you run around ask for extra documentation

@abbas.pasha OCI application is stuck at UNDER PROCESS from last week . They haven’t yet forwarded to consulate yet . Any idea what should i do ? Called them they said in transit from bls from last 4 days lol . BLS- Surrey

I have already received surrender certificate for my Indian Passport, and I have filled the OCI application online. I have few questions:
1- In the question 'Relation with India Root' I have answered Father. does this mean I have to show my father's passport?
2- I work on contract roles in IT, so is it mandatory to provide employment letter?
3- In regards to payment, should I take DD from bank and then visit the BLS?
4- BLS has long queues, so do I have to wait in lines again if they ask me to come again with extra documents?

For Pt 1 you had a Indian Passport, why you not using Self?
Pt 2 is to check whether you are working for gov. So it's needed. You might have your own or working via some contracting firm. A letter from them would suffice.

Pt 4 Not sure about this, will let others chime in

pt1: By mistake I used father, while reading someones post.

So the documents, I will take is my Canadian passport, citizenship certificate, Indian cancelled passport, Surrender certificate, one ID proof, Bank Demand draft and my Appointment letter.

15 Aug: Received at BLS
17 Aug: BLS status application received
22 Aug: Two statuses: Both under process

why are two statuses seen? Please advise. Thanks.

Hello everyone, my wife and 2 kids have an appointment tomorrow for fresh OCI application at BLS Brampton. Do we need 3 separate bank drafts or can we do a single $1035 bank draft?

Separate helps in case there is a issue with one application and it cannot be processed further. If you make a single one all application would be on hold till you resolve issue.

They are two separate things, OCI and e-visa. You can apply for them parallelly.
