Do i need to download before ceremony or after its so confussing any one knw ?
I got email from niagarafall office
Haven't reached this stage but I believe you have to wait for the oath email and follow the instructions and email back the signed oath form, then there is a
2-5 day week period before you can even download the Certificate.

Hi everyone,
I am a little worried about the speed of process on our applications.

We completed our test in March and there is no sign of the oath by far.

Background verification shows completed, so does the test but the remaining things are all in progress (language, prohibitions, and physical presence).

I know friends who applied much later have already received their Oath.

Do I have any options at this point to expedite the process?

You can request for GCMS notes and see how things are moving internally. But waiting is your only friend at 8 months. MP office, IRCC will give you 19 months ETA for any questions you will ask. Once LPP completes you will have ways to ask for updates.

Hi all,
I am waiting for my oath ceremony, but have travel plans to my home country in September.
If I do get an oath invite while I'm outside Canada, IRCC claims that I can still do a virtual ceremony, destroy my PR card while outside Canada and use my e-certificate to apply for Canadian passport to re-enter Canada.

Can anyone confirm this? Mississauga VO ceremony email has an automated response that mentions this.

I thought all oaths have to be taken inside Canada? The oath invitation email mentions this.

That option is not available for all. Only in special circumstances. Not sure if there is any recent changes to it. The oath officer during oath explicits checks that you are in Canada.

The automated response received from Mississauga VO oath ceremony email says this:

TRAVELLING OR OUTSIDE CANADA

If you have advised us that you will be TRAVELLING or are OUTSIDE CANADA You MAY take the Oath OUTSIDE CANADA. However, Please note your MUST Destroy your PR card. Apply for CANADIAN passport in order for you return back to CANADA. Therefore, the oath ceremony can be CANCELLED for YOU. If you choose to not to proceed with the Ceremony.

I guess the special circumstance is when you've informed them that you're outside Canada and receive the oath invitation during those dates?

The circumstances are not explicitly mentioned. But being outside Canada is not one of them. They have put oath on hold till they get to see proof of return to Canada for many. I won't trust auto reply.

The below link clearly mentions to be in Canada.

Yeah. The same link says you need to email them with subject "Outside Canada.." and they'll respond with next steps.

I guess they can either respond with rescheduling oath ceremony when you get back (if the travel duration is short) or they'd make an exception and allow you to take the oath while outside Canada. Either or.

It's very very very unlikely people will get approved for oath outside Canada. If they do allow it, it will be for certain very special circumstances as @forw.jane stated. There has been only one anecdotal report of oath outside Canada during the pandemic as far as I remember in this forum. However, I do not have a link to that post.

If you are unable to travel for your scheduled oath, let them know and they'll most likely postpone your oath to a later date. Also, rescheduling your oath may take up to 6 months after you send proof of return to Canada... Could be sooner if you are lucky. So, it's highly recommended you not postpone or reschedule your oath if you can.
