Did they grant your request to have an in person ceremony?

Over the phone? I didn’t ask for it over the phone. I followed the instruction. Used the webform. I’ve had LPP since so we’ll see when the oath invite comes through.

Hi everyone. I got an automated email from IRCC today. The email contains information about citizenship e-certificate and how to sign up for the IRCC Portal to download the e-certificate. I haven't scheduled to take an oath yet because I am still waiting for it. I signed up for this portal but I can't download the e-certificate. That's expected because I haven't taken an oath. I am just curious why I am getting this email prematurely.

The attachment reads like this:

You have indicated that you would like to receive your citizenship certificate in an electronicformat. In order to access your certificate, you must follow the instructions below.


If you are a representative we strongly encourage you to share this letter with the applicant so that they can download their certificate directly both now and in the future.


Information you will need to download your e-Certificate: (Visit IRCC’s Help Centre for assistance -
https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=598&top=5)
• Your UCI (XXXX-XXXX or XXXXXXXXXX)
• Your application number (CXXXXXXXXX)
• Your date of birth (YYYY | MM | DD)

Please use the proper browser to access the portal such as Google Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Please note that the portal will not work using Internet Explorer.


IRCC Portal
• This is where you will download your e-Certificate.
• You must first create an account on the IRCC Portal using the email address

you provided in your Citizenship application. If you have previously used the IRCC Portal for a Temporary Residence application you may log in using your existing account.
• The IRCC Portal can be accessed here: https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signup?lang=en
• Your invitation code: xxxxxx

Your Citizenship Ceremony
• At your citizenship ceremony, you will be instructed to submit your Oath or Affirmation of Citizenship with an electronic signature, or a printed and signed PDF attachment.
• Once this information is received, your e-Certificate will be available for download within 2 to 5 business days.


Downloading your e-Certificate
• Log into your IRCC Portal account: https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/signin?lang=en
• Select “Citizenship – Download Citizenship e-Certificate”.
• Enter your UCI, Application number and date of birth.
• Select “download” to access your e-Certificate.
• This will trigger your browser to open or save the file. Additional action might be required depending on your browser.
• You may return to the Portal any time to download your e-Certificate again.
• Please visit our IRCC’s Help Centre for more information.


Immediately after you download your certificate, verify that the personal information is accurate. If it contains errors, please visit: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=598&top=5

You would be scheduled for oath soon. Some people are receiving it ahead of the oath email.

I didnt ask over the phone. Just wanted to know if they have replied you and granted your in person ceremony request. But I see you just had LPP completed recently. Hoping you get a response soon. I would also like to have an in person ceremony. Another question off topic... why were you exempt from the language check? I am aware of age being a factor for being exempt from the citizenship test but never heard of the language exemption. Thanks

Since today I cannot access the portal and I see in the response of the user api, that they require Fingerprints.
My question here is “I had provided my fingerprints and RCMP criminal record check completed in 2020 for my PR application , as far as I know we needn’t require to submit finger prints for 10 years” can anyone suggest how we can update the team?

Since they requested it, you have to provide the FP again to clear your BG verification, you can’t decline it.

lol all we getting is ghost updates nothing else. Smh, im still stuck at 2 GU n nothing has updated on my account, at this moment I wish I could just erase this whole citizenship application from my mind and not check nomore, till they send me any sort of email, for test, oath or fingerprint. at this point, the tracker only gives me false hope and depression

Ahh! I can totally understand! The "waiting" game is killing and on that these "Ghost Updates" adds further to the anxiety.

Hi @ankusaxe9, congratulations. did you get your background completed a day after the fingerprints were submitted? this indicates that it is almost automatic process.
