Update on our application for anyone following along (lol)
Got an email from PA's medical clinic today with a clean bill of health and no issue moving forward and stating the ME results were submitted via eMedical, Just waiting on GCKey/PR Tracker to update to medical received/passed.
It is worth noting our timeline was a bit off from what the majority of people experience. It's in my signature with exact dates, but essentially our Medical exam was requested later in the process than a lot of the cases I've looked at.
Our (general) timeline:
Submitted >
(2 months) > Acknowledgment of Receipt >
(2.5 weeks) > Additional Document Request (submitted same day and acknowledged day after) >
(1 month) > Biometrics Request >
(1 day) > Sponsor Approval >
(20 days) > Biometrics appt/Biometrics Complete >
(3 days) > BG/Eligibility in progress >
(1 month) > Medical Request/BG NA >
(0.5 month) > Eligibility complete >
(1 day) > Pre-arrival letter >
(4 days) > Medical Exam >
(3 days) > Ghost Update in tracker
BACKGROUND CHECK:
Also, I want to note (in case anyone stumbles upon this thread in the future looking for information):
BG check - From what I can find back in the day there used to be stages of a BG check (a lot of threads are saying this is no longer the case, it was applicant-derived and not official, the IRCC never confirmed it, etc.) Those stages were reportedly:
- Medical - You do not need a medical exam
- BG - NA1 - "Not Applicable" - Background check says "Not Applicable", usually right after submission.
- Medical - MEP - Medicals passed: review of medical results changes from "You do not need a medical exam." to "You have passed the medical exam."
- BG - IP1 - "In progress" 1: Background check changes to "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check." Usually follows MEP. Some applicants (especially inland and CEC) skip this stage.
- BG - NA2 - "Not Applicable" 2: Background check changes to "Not Applicable" again after IP1. Some applicants skip this stage and it is easily missed.
- BG - IP2 - "In progress" 2: Background check changes to "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."
- BG - NA3 - "Not Applicable" 3: Background check changes to "Not Applicable" again after IP2 (uncommon)
- Ghost update - When you log in, the application says it's been "updated" but none of the fields have changed. Often considered a sign that PPR is coming soon. Not seen by all applicants.
- PPR - Passport request: IRCC sends "Ready for visa" e-mail asking you to submit your documents to your visa office so they can issue your CoPR and entry visa if applicable.
- CoPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residence: A document that says you've been approved for permanent residence.
If these stages were set in stone and absolutely correct (X to doubt) ours would be out of order:
- BG - Not started
- Medical - "You do not need a medical exam"
- BG - IP1 - "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check."
- BG - IP2 - "We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information."
- Medical - "We have requested a medical exam"
- BG - NA(3, I think)
- Ghost update - "Updated June 23rd" when last activity was June 15th.
BG changed to NA the same day our Medical Exam request was sent to us. With the ghost update hopefully that means PPR in the near future.
