confused about the process.

Greetings to all,
My husband is a PR whereas the kids and I are not (he applied for himself only). After landing, he applied for our PR under family class (living outside Canada). I was wondering if we will go through all the background, eligibility, medical, and biometrics process or if we will directly get our PR.
Also, how long does this process take since we have been married for a long time and already have kids?

It won't be 'direct' but some parts of it should be shorter as already done (biometrics, perhaps parts of the background etc will only have to be checked or updated). Unfortunately I believe you'd likely have to do the medicals anew (when were they done the first time?).

Formally timeline just like any new spousal app. In practice - wouldn't want to guess. It's still going to have to go through all the formal steps. But yes, establishing that you are a legitijmate couple etc usually easier for longer relationships with kids.

If both of you were married only once(To each other), have always lived together and have kids with each other then I believe there is no real relationship “check”.

it pretty much goes into processing unlike other applicants. Should be faster than a traditional family sponsorship of newly married couples etc

Did he come a PR BEFORE he got married to you?

Since you said "we have been married for a long time and already have kids? " and you have never done any medical before....
It's worrying that he didn't declare you and your children when he applied/landed as PR. If that's the case, he cannto sponsor you and your children.

How did he get his PR?

As others have asked, were the two of you married when he landed as a PR?
