Hello,

I heard that canada is one of the few countries on earth that extradite there own citizen.

Let's say i am a Canadian citizen living in republic dominica, and the US or some other country want to bring me for court, canada will give you 0 protection and will allow dominican republic to extradite you, and if you put your feet in Canada it will automatic extradite you.

But that's not the case for most of countries, for exemple France or China this is impossible.

It's only for knowledge purposes i just want to know if someone can double confirm, because if this is case.. the lack of protection from false accusation is really dangerous and i don't know if it's worth to change citizenship from a country that protect you to one that will not hesitate to extradite you.

Thank you!

If you are a PR and commit a crime, even if by negligence, with a jail sentence of minimum 6 months, you will lose your PR status and be banned from entering Canada again.

Many countries extradite their own citizens, although (as far as I'm aware) usually on basis of extradition treaties (name may vary though).

Let's say i am a Canadian citizen living in republic dominica, and the US or some other country want to bring me for court, canada will give you 0 protection and will allow dominican republic to extradite you, and if you put your feet in Canada it will automatic extradite you.
Roughly correct. Canada can provide consular protection but that won't amount to shielding you from a valid extradition demand (valid acc to courts of that third country). In Canada, extradition is not 'automatic', but court won't shield you from what it considers valid demands either. It can be challenged. For the most part Canada only has extradition treaties with countries whose court systems are considered (somewhat) reliable. I believe there are tests to show that there is some basis for the charge, but you'd need a lawyer to know details.

It's only for knowledge purposes i just want to know if someone can double confirm, because if this is case.. the lack of protection from false accusation is really dangerous and i don't know if it's worth to change citizenship from a country that protect you to one that will not hesitate to extradite you.
What on earth is 'double confirm'? Another anonymous person on the internet (eg me)? There you are, then.

You want 'triple' confirmation, hire a lawyer.

I'd caution about 'protection' though: a lot of countries who won't extradite are not known for neutral courts. And some that won't extradite will prosecute their citizens for crimes committed abroad (because they don't extradite).

The crime the requesting country is accusing you of also has to be a crime in Canada before an extradition is even considered, also known as dual criminality. So, if the person is accused of religious blasphemy in another country where it is illegal, then Canada will not extradite because it is not illegal to blaspheme religion in Canada; rather the right to blaspheme is protected under Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

As the Meng Wanzhou case showed, Canada's courts do not have to prove that the accusation from the US is a sound one. It only has to establish whether the alleged crime is also a crime in Canada, even if the US allegation does not eventually stand up in the US court.

Meng Wanzhou was NOT extradited by Canada.

Last news I saw regarding their case, they left Canada on a flight to China. Before that they were living in a luxury home in B.C.

Views regarding their culpability for criminal fraud vary considerably, noting though that they stipulated to certain facts as to false statements made on behalf of a company that still faces criminal prosecution. Evidence leans toward indicating crimes were committed.

I assumed (and still do) this topic was trolling. In terms of risk of persecution, unjust prosecution, and unjust extradition, Canada might not be the safest country in the world, but it is easily in the range of those countries which generally better protect individuals. Not a haven for criminals, sure. Which most probably appreciate. Otherwise, it is not at all a dangerous place to live, comparatively, but rather is a desirable destination for many, many thousands in the world seeking refuge and protection from injustice perpetrated by other governments.

That's not a bad thing. Criminals should be extradited. False accusations don't lead to extradition requests unless I'm mistaken.

An ordinary Canuck can hardly be compared to Meng Wanzhou! That is related to global politics and world order.
