Hello! I'll start by saying, it's been 10+ years since my step dad was deported from canada due to his criminal past which was in his young years, he stole etc. Nothing extremely crazy. We relocated to the UK and have been living here since. He has a job, supporting his family. My mother is now sponsoring him for the 2nd time. The first was rejected because of his criminality. However more time has now passed, and our current stage in the sponsership is much farther then it was in the 1st. I've been in contact with the MP in Vaughan, shes been actively calling the office in Vienna. In December I was told Medicals have passed, biometrics were confirmed received recently. Criminality is in progress, with security and eligibility not started. I was told a police certificate was missing and that was sent right away. Fast forward to March and we heard back from the office and they requested letters from the person being sponsered, friends and family. Showing that he is a changed man and has been rehabilitated. It took us a couple days and our family got strong letters together and sent it. A few days later the mp said they received it, it was all attached to the file and active with an officer. A month later, to my surprise (literally a few days ago) we got another response from the office. Requesting an ARC (Authorisation to return to canada) They requested, 400$. a letter of employment, a letter that we will have accommodation from someone, and that we will be taken care of without being on social services as well as proof of savings. My whole family lives in canada, Including my grandparents that wrote a letter stating they will take us in, and we will not have to pay a single dime. My moms brother wrote a letter of job offer since he owns a business. so my step dad will have a job right when he enters canada. This was all sent the very next day after we got the response. This is the farthest we have ever gotten, the mp said that the arc is the final stage. Our last sponsership didn't even get to this point.

I'm writing this to see what you guys think about it. Our paralegal thinks that it's extremely likely everything has been approved and that they are just finalising things now to make sure we will be fine when we come back. I know that even tho it's gone this way that its still not guaranteed we have been approved but I'm thinking its likely, What are your opinions?

What does the pr tracker say? And gckey? I would recommend getting GCMS notes to get a full picture.

But yes if they asked for the ARC and other formalities like eligibilty and background have completed...its a positive sign.

I don't have a timeline, but it's been 18+ months at this point. Only recently have they started to reply fast. Office is in Vienna

Only our Paralegal currently has access to those things. We already received GCMS notes recently but they don't contain any information we dont already know.

18+ months since the application was submitted? What do the gcms notes say about eligibility, criminality, info sharing? There should be officer notes as well. The more info you share the better people can help you.

yup 18+ months since it was submitted. The gcms notes were received before they had contacted us about the criminal rehabilitation letters, and ARC. So those notes state that criminality was in progress, with eligibility and security not started. However that was 3 months ago now. Within that timeframe they have contacted us twice (1 for criminal rehab letters and the 2nd recently for ARC which was a month after the rehab letters) As for the info sharing, its marked as “Complete” and theres nothing informative in the notes as far as i can tell.

I would probably order gcms notes again and get access to the pr tracker.

Once eligibility is completed...then comes background (criminality & security). After background is finished an officer will review ARC application and make a final decision.

No point in ordering GCMS notes especially during a strike. The application seems to be processing normally.

Strike ended, according to the morning news. CRA is still on strike, but not IRCC
Yes saw that after posting. Good news for all involved and impacted. Still no point in ordering GCMS notes. Processing seems to be progressing normally and there will be a backlog of GCMS notes so it will take longer to get.

We have an assistant of the MP in Vaughan in regular contact with the Vienna office, so any valuable information is relayed to us, which is why I don't want to order GCMS notes, Another reason is we were told that the ARC is now the final step in the application. Our lawyer told us it's very likely they have approved most of it, and now are making their final decision. It all happened so fast, we sent in the police certificate about 3-4 months ago, last month got asked for criminal rehabilitation letters from friends/family/person being sponsored etc and just a week ago received the ARC - Pay 400$, letter of employment, that we will have housing and some savings. In my personal opinion, I think they wouldn't be asking for this if they didn't deem him admissible to Canada, Yes it's not 100% just yet. But I think it's very likely. The assistant of the MP has her next appointment with them early next week so we will know more then.
