Hey guys, according to the IRCC website the Study Permit processing time has been reduced to 8 weeks. This is the first time the IRCC has officially come back to their normal processing time since the beginning of the pandemic. In that light, where do we guys stand with our applications? Judging by the silence on this forum for the past couple of weeks, is everyone still waiting, with many of us for over 8 weeks by now?

Today is 8 weeks and two days for our application.

How about you guys @thomas23, @Hannan009, @Hina sadam, @naohFiona, @Shittu1268, @Nupur06, @JerryMe, @Lolan, @kungFUpanda, @sundial_tenable0f? At least 11 of us are still waiting?
@parrots our application has already passed 10 weeks yesterday and there is no update since 1st March when I got ADR, my medical was also passed on that day.

Hey @Hannan009! There we are with new records of delays being said as we speak :( What is an ADR?
@parrots ADR stands for Additional Document Request. I uploaded my passport twice instead of a Letter of Acceptance while applying. Therefore, IRCC requested my Letter of Acceptance on 1st March which I also uploaded on the same day. However, no update after that.

Hey, I am from India and applied for Canada study permit under SDS category for September 2023. The following is the timeline:
Application Submitted: 28th March 2023
Biometrics updated: 03rd April 2023
Medicals: not yet updated

What is the usual timeline? The IRCC is showing "application is under process" and no updates in the past 13 days.

Hey @Hannan009 Thank you! :) Yes, I remember your story about your LOA. That definitely is not the reason of the delayed processing time. They reacted quick enough to make sure your application was full. Oh, well, wait we do some more and more

Hey @saikarthik8998 It's 20 days for SDS, 8 weeks for non-SDS applications, but in reality it may take up to 12 weeks or more. It's all very individual.

So, we cannot estimate the processing time even if we meet all the eligibility criteria? I was hoping that I will atleast get my PPR request within 30 days, but it seems like a dream after reading all the stories here. ☹☹

Two of the people I know got their visa in 20 days. It seems like mine will take longer given no updates from IRCC.
I don't even have the chance to apply for germany, given my amount is blocked with university

Oh, come on @Naturgrl! Under the normal circumstances that is true, but there are circumstances that may push people into taking their chances with tickets. Prices, time constraint, availability of refunds. Sometimes money lost on the refunds are less than buying a ticket 2 weeks before departure.

SDS is clearly working for many people in 2023, I would say it works for most people now.
That’s exactly what happened to us :’)

Applied March 20
Biometrics March 22
Medical pass (April 14 me and April 8 my wife)
Still waiting for more updates, in the status shows that eligibility and background are in process (which means they’re reviewing, I guess)

We bought our tickets to April 26 and obviously weren’t gonna make it, YET!

Hope you guys get some good news soon too!
If there are any Brazilians or other people willing to talk and share experiences to ease our anxiety, I’m here!

Hey @saleslucas94 Thank you so much! :)

Yeah, the same thing was with us in the summer of 2022, we had to refund our tickets. I wonder how has it been going for you @nrkn555? :)

Hey @saikarthik8998 In all honesty, yes, you can not predict the processing time with any certainty. Looking back at 2022, it might be said that processing time averaged 20 weeks back then. And there are many reports of people who have been waiting for over 12 weeks on their applications in 2023. However, you can always be among those lucky ones who measure their processing time in days rather than months. Good luck to you! :)
