Hi Everyone,

I am currently in the Express Entry pool, sitting at a CRS score of 476 and hopeful to receive an Ontario HCP invite soon due to my NOC being a tech NOC.
In that regard, I have been reviewing the document checklist for the PNP applicants on the Ontario website. I am currently working in a friend's company for some time now and have been receiving the remuneration in cash. Regarding the documents required for proving the work experience, I have obtained the employer reference letter and other supporting documents such as business card etc. But I am confused as to how I can go about proving the payment for my work as I have been receiving the salary in cash. This rules out bank statement as there is no salary being deposited into my account. What other documents can I obtain to prove my salary ? Is a stamped and attested letter from the company mentioning that my salary was paid in cash is enough ? Have somebody else been in such a situation ? How did you go about this issue ? Your thoughts and answers are welcomed.

Provide a T4 from your employer. You would have received that already for filing your 2022 taxes.

You work for a tech company and get paid in cash? What? Isn't that like, the opposite of what a tech company should do???

Thanks for your reply scylla. I have missed mentioning that this was not a Canadian experience or a Canadian company. However, I have requested the company to provide "if" any tax related info that they may have. Let's see.

There is a low chance that you will find any tax-related details for this because

in most countries (in regards to legality), salaries are allowed to be paid in cash ONLY IF the salary amount is less than the least amount on which tax applies. Meaning you were earning lesser than the taxable income threshold.

In such cases, Payslips, a reference letter (with salary breakdown) and an official document (signed & stamped by a notary) stating this rule in your country should do.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I am by no means an expert on this subject, I have a close relative who was in a similar situation as you and the above worked for him in 2019 (FSW - Express Entry, NOT OINP).
