US PCC for citizenship application

Hi everyone,

I got my PR in 2019. I lived in US for 200 days from Oct 2020 to Jun 2021. I'm sure I will need a US PCC for citizenship application in this case.

I was directed to 'Identity History Summary from the FBI online' for a US PCC. Since I'm now in Canada, I looked at the option to apply online, which turned out requesting a fingerprint card done in a local USPS office.. It also provided the option to mail the PCC application. But it requires a US Social Security number and fingerprints placed on a standard fingerprint form which is taken by local, county, or state law enforcement agencies.

The issue is now I don't have a valid US visa any more, and my new visa interview is not near soon. Any advice I could get a US PCC from Canada or I should provide an explanation in the application?

Thanks.

You can get a fingerprint from an embassy, I don't know where you live but I did my FBI fingerprinting from the Filipino embassy in Toronto. They took 50$ to take fingerprints on the card( it was the cheapest at the time). Although I chose the online option I mailed the card to the FBI. They got my fingerprints on Thursday, and by the following Monday I got my report in email and paper mail a month later.

SSN is not needed if you don't have it. Although the FBI process says online, it can be still done using fingerprints on paper. The part which is online is the report and your details. The mail process is slower and could take 1-4 months depending on the workload.

Use this link to start the online process. The best part about it is you pay using your Credit card when filling out the application form and then just send the receipt with your application. For the mail process, they ask for a demand draft or Credit card information with the application.

Thanks a lot! It's really helpful to know embassies provide fingerprint services. So FBI recognizes fingerprint done in a non-US embassy?

Yup it does like I said I did it from the Filipino embassy in Toronto, just tell them you need to use FD 258 and since it's an embassy they'll sign/certify it, you need to fill in all your details, name/age/height/hair-eye color, etc, two forms of identification, and make sure the fingerprints are visible clearly and it's not a hasty job.

You can also use an electronic scan of your fingerprint and send a printed copy of it. No need for inked fingerprints. The embassy had issues with their printer/scanner the day I went so I did a traditional ink scan. Also, contact the local RCMP/Police office and they might be able to do it for you too. There are a few certified fingerprinting services too. But they were more expensive.

If you are in GTA, there are many places you can get your fingerprints but this is where (link below) it is cheaper and they have a full package where they take fingerprints, mail them, pay the fee and send you the report or you can just get the fingerprints taken and mail it yourself. Best part is that they do digital fingerprints which has less rejection rate.

Thank you for sharing. I googled similar fingerprinting services in Vancouver, there are couple of them.
