Maybe. Who knows. I don't know why majority of people move to Canada. Really don't. I understand Russians; it's dangerous to live in Russia right now if you are a man. I understand Ukrainians. I understand Iranians. I understand if one doesn't have basic necessities and quality of life is just terrible; it makes sense to move. Why would you move if you have a decent job, your family is near, your friends, you have a roof over the head.
People move for a variety of reasons. There is even a thread on this forum somewhere specific to US / UK / EU folks moving to Canada. Some people do move for basic necessities, and some are much higher on Maslow's hierarchy of needs and still make a move. I mean I have no issues for any sort of reason to move other than someone saying that they moved because someone else told them to.

@GandiBaat is definitely a big shot. He even travels on a helicopter for meetings :D Companies don't pay for that for mere mortals.
When I used to work for oil and gas, they would take us to rigs in helicopters. Those companies get special rates.

That sounds very open ended but even with that,150 interviews just to screen is tad too much. The recruitment process could be much more efficient than that.
Basically, its the scheme followed by all FAANG companies. There is no real focus on individual tech.

People leave to Canada for dumbest reasons. I talked to a colleague of mine (he is from India) about why he came to Canada. You know what he said? "It's cultural. Everyone told me that the West is so much better and I was pressured in trying to leave".
There are many reasons and he is not when he says its cultural. Going to Canada/UK/US is a rite of passage in many north India "provinces" like Punjab, Haryana and Delhi. You will laugh at it but you may get a better choice of "relationships" (ie marriage) if you are in Canada or going to Canada.

Back when I was single, we used to joke that if we can not find a girl to marry, we will just get our Australian / Canadian PR and put up an ad in Punjab/Delhi for marriage and mentioned "Canada Settled".

Except... its not a joke. It happens too often to be called rare. Though people are now getting more aware of difficulties in living here.

Its one or two travel management companies who manage travel for lot of corporates in north america. They consolidate their bookings and reap discounts and pass a part of it to their customers.

My Boss used to book rental cars for day trip to seattle long time back. Our entire team of 4-5 folks used to travel to attend conferences. Many times we got quite swanky ones due to this bulk booking. Thats what they had in the inventory that day so thats what we get.

Why don't you give them a call or check the website? Took me roughly 30 seconds to find the link and get the form to book an appoitment.
Because i am in India and not in canada. I have job finalized and wanted to get the sin no. Earlier.

Just received this from IRCC....anyone know if it means application under review...?

Dear client CAN000xxxxx,

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has put in place a temporary public policy that exempts some low-risk, in-Canada foreign nationals from having to complete an additional immigration medical exam as part of their application for permanent residence or for a permanent resident visa.

If you have completed an Immigration Medical exam (IME) within the last 5 years, include your IME or UMI number when you submit your online application for permanent residency. IRCC will process your permanent resident application with your previous medical exam results and notify you of next steps.

If you have not previously completed an IME, please complete one before you submit your application.

Thank you for your interest in Canada.

Sincerely,

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada

Yup. I like this about FAANG. I really want to join Google but one thing that I don't like is team matching. Pretty much go through all those rounds to end up at not-so-good/interesting team is a crappy feeling.

Exactly that. Check out Boeing and Indian software engineering:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-06-28/boeing-s-737-max-software-outsourced-to-9-an-hour-engineers . It's behind the paywall but if you google, you will be able to crack it.

If Boeing did that what makes you think that companies where a cost of mistake is not that high don't go the same route? Plus, most of the jobs are pretty easy. When the last time your bank (TD, CIBC) rolled out anything significant? When the last time Walmart did the same? What about Manulife? What about 99% of other service providers in Canada? This is where most of the newcomers will be applying. Not FAANG, Uber or other tech. companies.
There is this entire documentary about Boeing. One must know that Boeing as a company is living in stone of software development. I mean 4-5 years back for Boeing and for Lock-Mart, Agile was a revolution. Agile became a standard in software development industry much earlier. These companies are not really software development houses by choice but by force. They were once something totally different and were forced to shelter a software development firms in-house because how pervasive computers have become. They never really embraced software development and honestly, they are not totally wrong. Just that world changed too fast for them.

One more thing that messes up software is the thinking that its easy. Its NOT. Its just that as a industry, software and IT has a habbit of tolerating substandard solution more than any other industry. It is not uncommon to find literally solutions held together with digital "duct tape" and being used in alarmingly critical places. I mean imagine, if bridges were build in this fashion... But then there is a real cost in terms of life when a bridge fails so people have come to respect standard solutions and training in case of bridge. In case of software, what worse could happen? It will crash! Who cares? That attitude is still prevelent in Industry.

BTW, how do you think IRCC "engineers" its solutions. Take a peek!

https://vancouverimmigrationblog.com/harvester-why-ircc-is-harvesting-your-submitted-application-documents-with-their-latest-automation-tool/

They are using UI Automation to pull YOUR attached documents from GCMS for offline review and keeping them on shared drive. Meanwhile solution has no concurrency control (it is supposed to be used concurrently). Possibly uses file locking to prevent corruption of critical database files. I will not be surprised that they loose a lot of your attached documents.

I expect TD etc to be better than these folks but this is what is being used in canadian government "backends".

I interviewed with them this fall. Made past phone screen (back tracking question dressed as a DP one, sneaky sneaky google!). Did all the rounds. Some reason it was back tracking season everywhere in google. Messed up one coding round -- like messed up pretty bad. Was asked to apply again in 6-7 months.

If you added foreign work experience, you should qualify for both FSW and CEC, not sure if you will receive the invite though.
