Hi,

Hope is all well with you.

I have applied for the Outland spousal application. I am the sponsor and have a PR. I received the AOR and Sponsorship eligibility last week.

Can I travel outside Canada for an extended period of time(more than 2 months). I have not seen my family for more than 10 months.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,
Anees Ahmad

Unfortunately as a PR you have to remain in Canada during the process. Leaving for a short trip (a couple of weeks, maybe) is even risky.

Canadian citizens that are sponsors do not have the same restrictions.

You can certainly go for a few weeks but not a few months. Going for a few months will put the sponsorship application in jeopardy.

Hi, I have received Sponsorship Approval too. Can I go and visit my spouse for 5 weeks? Does that impact application?

going and coming back wont be an issue ,keeping connection with your place of residency ...Canada is the main thing that you need to support all the time ,contract of work ( proof that your income still can follow the guidance of financial sponsorship ) place you are living in ( condo, house ...),and the most important thing is being in Canada when the spouse is arriving ...easy to prove when you are living in the country ...ninja attack will follow my communication ...lets have fun again yessss.

Guidance from IRCC only says 'short trips' are ok, no definition. Most seem to intrepret that as meaning eg four weeks or less. While it's clear 'enforcement' of this is not strict, it's your choice, your risk, your problem if IRCC decides more than that is not what they meant.

personally, i dont think so maybe more opinion in relation to the subject can clarify it more for you ,and once again
A Canadian citizen can live outside of Canada during the spousal sponsorship period as long as they can show that their intent is to return to Canada to live after the approval is granted.
