Hello,
I have bought a ticket for my wife to fly to Canada already as she has her trv approved. But I have a problem convincing my wife that we can buy the return ticket in exactly 6 months. I am thinking getting it 6 months time will have the border officer in Canada give her approval for a 6-month stay? She's coming here for medical support etc. Am I correct that I can buy her return ticket for 6 months time from date of arrival at Pearson Airport, Toronto? My wife is stressed and pushing for 3 months but I am stressed out that it doesn't give us time. We have an outland sponsorship if that matters.

This is a hard question to anwer definitively since it's all ultimately up to CBSA.

How long a visit she will be allowed will be determine by CBSA when she arrives in Canada. They will likely simply give her the default six months without any questions at all. Also some possibility they may have concerns about a full six month visit and having a return ticket that is a full six months later.

Again, super hard to say. Entirely possible there will be no issues. But nothing with CBSA is ever guaranteed and none of us can tell you what will happen at the border.
