OCI process

Hello Everyone,
We applied OCI for our newborn son via postal from Alberta. The application was received on July 23 and after one week the tracking status showed that we sent two draft instead of one and asked us to send another draft.
Realising our mistake, We sent another draft of $352.40 on August 3 and since then the status shows pending.
I called the call center this month and they said since we sent the draft via canada post express it is not accepted ( only purolator ones are accepted )
Therefore, as our last hope we sent another draft on 3 october via purolator which was received on 4 october, however the status is still the same.

Not sure what to do. we even emailed them and no response came back since a month.

I am now thinking to apply for tourist visa for him.

Any response/guidance will be highly appreciated

If we walk-in BLS Brampton,can we pay total fees by debit card or cash as it's mentioned on there website?
Or we need DD?

For OCI, you will need to pay the OCI fee for $345 via a demand draft / certified cheque in favor of "Consulate General of India, Toronto". All BLS related fee can be paid via debit card / cash at the counter

Post is post. They have no business denying a post from Canada Post. At this point, you have paid three times the fees. I believe the best option at the moment is to withdraw your application, ask them to return all your documents and drafts. And submit a fresh application at a later date.

For surrender certificate the fees will be $122 via a demand draft/certified check in favor of "Consulate General of India, Toronto". All BLS related fee can be paid via debit card / cash at the counter which is $7.40?

For surrender certificate, everything can be paid via a debit card or Cash. They need a separate DD for OCI fee only.

Try checking the status with a different browser. I get a "No such record found" error in Chrome and an "Under-Process" status in Safari & Edge.

Wow ! it works. Thanks for sharing. I also get a "No such record found" error in Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, but when I check my status in Safari it says "Under Process"

Try to check in different browser, Safari or Edge.

My oath ceremony is on Nov 23 and I'm flying to India on Dec 14. So OCI application is out of question.

However, I've noticed people applying for entry/tourist visa here. How much time do those take? Assuming I get a Canadian passport quickly, and I apply for surrender cert and visa, do you think I'll get it in 2 weeks? It's cutting it close but not quite sure what else to do. Do I need the surrender cert to go to India or can I pick it up later?

I think as a last resort I'll postpone my trip as the trip to India needs to happen for medical reasons.

I'm in Vancouver so any local timelines will be appreciated

I sent a postal application for a new OCI card to BLS International Calgary, and it was delivered on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 8:42 a.m. The shipment was delivered at RECEPTION, and my address falls under the Vancouver Consulate's jurisdiction.

My departure for India is scheduled for November 24. I'm not sure if I should apply for an Indian visa or wait for my OCI since the processing time for Indian visa has increased from 7 days to 30 to 45 days recently . If I apply for a visa but don't get my passport stamped, or if I don't get my OCI card in time. I'm really confused

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

For Visa stamp, I think hey will keep the Canadian PP till the stamping is done. And, if the OCI comes earlier, you will be stuck for not having the PP. Same situation here.

- I am still waiting for the acknowledgment in OCI website.
- BLS website shows " inProgress at CGI on Sep 27th"
Is anyone else in the same boat and submitted on Sep 27th ? Is there any point in calling BLS here?

Here are my timelines:

1) September 6th OCI submitted to Brampton - Postal Application
2) September 29th Acknowledgement on OCI - No update after that

I ended up applying for surrender cert and 6-month Entry Visa. Decided to not apply OCI as I was worried about processing times.

They said 3 weeks for surrender processing and just 1 week for Entry Visa. They've also confirmed I can travel once I get visa even if surrender application is still processing.

Do you know if I can also apply for OCI while I still have a valid visa? Or should I just apply this once I return?

I have asked to do same when I called the BLS customer service, and I was asked to do a pickup drop-off service(136) for the next week. I am just wondering have you sent your application already and have any update?

Just got the Ack in OCI website for the entire family today Oct 18th, 2022. Hope to receive the cards before Nov 15th, 2022.
