Hold on a second, your application was refused on the grounds of "the purpose of your stay is inconsistent with a temporary stay" (wording might be wrong here), which is basically "ties to country", right? Then it has nothing to do with the finances and changing a line in the application form about finances will most definitely not help your case. In addition, if you change your available funds from 1 year to 4 years + GIC you have to provide additional financial documents to prove those available funds for four years. But you are saying you haven't attached the new documents. Are you sure you are doing the right thing?
Look through the forum for instructions about how to get the GCMS notes... I requested them through a Canadian citizen, but I believe now you can request them directly for yourself. Also, there are online services that can request them on your behalf.
Now, i am a but worried, I have sent passport for stamping and its been almost 5 days since it has reached IRCC office and no updates after that. I am not sure if they need 5257 for that
Nah, the whole stamping process takes a while. Mine was at the IRCC office (New Delhi) for 4 days. Yours might be a tad delayed because of the extra days off last week. Don't worry. Plus, it's an optional document. I don't think it's going to be an issue or they would have requested it directly and you'd have gotten an email for it. I'm sure you'll get your stamped passport this week. Keep me posted though, please.
I did show the same in the initial application, in the new application I mentioned 4 years fee + GIC as available fund and the source (CA Asset Assessment).

First of all, congrats on the passport front; glad it's been stamped and at VFS. As for the rest of the status updates, they all changed and my application changed from 'submitted' to 'approved' the day I received my 'Port of Entry' letter. I got my POE a day after I collected my passport. Don't worry, it'll change for you in a few days too.
