Visitor Visa Issues

Hello, I've applied for a visitor visa on behalf of my mom. We're Brazilian and I have PR status in Canada. My husband is Canadian and our young son is as well. It's been 108 days since we submitted the app and according to the IRCC website the processing time is 70 days. We've gone the MP route which has not made a difference at this point. We applied for a visitor visa rather than a supervisa because at the time we applied the processing time for a visitor visa was about 30 days and about 150 days for a supervisa. We thought this route would be faster and allow my mom to arrive for the birth of my son and just stay for a short visit. Unfortunately this did not work out. We feel like we are out of options at this point and need to keep being patient and wait, however, there does not appear to be an end in sight. I've heard stories of it taking years for a response. I just wanted to canvass the forum to see if anyone has any other ideas or whether we should just keep waiting. We've thought about submitting a new application for a supervisa. Does anyone know if this will automatically cancel the existing visitor visa app? Thanks all for any ideas/advice.

Suggest you read through the posts in the Visitors section of the forum. This is where you'll find the vast majority of posts dealing with TRV processing times, re-applications, etc.

70 days is just an estimate and estimates are often incorrect. All you can do is wait. Given that the processing time is no not way out of the norm your MP can’t do anything. Unfortunately you’ll need to wait. Hopefully you’ll hear something soon. When is your baby due? Did you mention that your mother wanted to come for the delivery? What did you say for her reason to visit?
