Hi,

I would like to know, if I mention in my profile "Is your spouse/common-law partner coming with you?" and put as "NO" . If I am lucky enough and get PR, will I be able to sponsor Spouse and Child later. Is it a valid process.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Koushik

Yes - you can sponsor them later.

However in order for you to get PR, they will still have to pass the medical, background and security checks.

Also, as a PR you must be living in Canada to sponsor them for PR and they may not be able to get TRVs to visit you in Canada (assuming they are non visa exempt). This means it's possible you may be separated for quite some time before the PR application is finalized.

Hi Syclla,

I have a similar situation where I NOT included my spouse in my PR application but mentioned that I got married. ( Assuming that I can sponsor her later because including spouse decreasing my CRS points)

However, my spouse is here in Canada since Jan, 2016 as a visitor and changed the status to work permit in April, 2016.

Could be any complications for my application before and after I get PR ?

Please let me know.

The complication I see is that you're going to have trouble explaining to CIC why you're not including her in your application if she's already in Canada (and presumably wants to stay here). If you flag her as non-accompanying, I believe you are asking for a reason why.

The only honest reason I have is including my spouse would NOT get me an ITA soon.

Currently, my CRS is at 450, after changes tomorrow, I get 480 points.

I do not want to slip the opportunity before my next birthday ( in march, 2017) reduces 5 points and IELTS expires in April, 2017.

If I include my spouse then the current score is 428 ( spouse contribution is basically only IELTS) and with changes tomorrow 458 - Not sure if I could get an ITA before March.

I am in the same situation and I took advise of couple of different lawyers and everyone said that it's okay to not include spouse in this situation, if need be you can provide LOE when you get ITA.

However if your spouse's visa expire while your PR application is in process it's better not to apply for extension for your Spouse. You can apply for visitor visa again once you get your PR.

Thank you...

Yeah, assuming LOE would persuade visa officer is kind of a worry until we get the PR approval - If the officer doesn't like the LOE then things would become much worse.

Not being pessimistic but just saying...

LOE is optional though, and you can be honest in LOE and mention the reason about CRS if you decide to provide LOE. You can also say that for now you are focused on your PR first since your wife is already here in the country with you.

Yeah, I believe in my case LOE is a must before visa officer asks for a query or denial of the application.

Anyway, thanks for the responses - such a helpful forum.

You guys could just say yes and add your spouse to the application rather than trying to get around the system. It'll take less time for you in the long run

yeah, I would love to do that but you know, we are dealing with convoluted EE - that "long run" might not even an option if things get worse.

That option is there for a reason and there is nothing wrong in using that option as long as you are being honest about it and mentioning that you are married.

And yes you are right it takes more time but I am hoping all the talks about reducing time for family reunification will happen soon and that will also help getting PR for spouse.

If you say "NO" for your accompanying wife in the EE profile and your wife is already with you in Canada sounds very much misrepresentation to me. You might want to verify that again.

Friends,

I am in the same situation. My spouse is in India. , I said no(Spouse is not coming with me).My question is that what kind of documents i need to submit for my spouse. after getting my ITA. So far i know is
-Marriage Certificate
-Medical
-PCC

do we need to provide photos(I am not sure on this one)? Someone also told me that I need to provide restaurants bills, catering bills and all other expenses we do during marriage. Is it true?

Can someone please help me out here.
