So, I'm starting to write out my relationship documentation for my application, but I do have one question. Do myself and my Husband have to write one, or can it just be myself?

I just want to make sure that we have everything possibly needed in with the application when we mail it off, and until tonight, I'd forgotten completely about the relationship documentation.

On Saturday I have my Medical examination coming up, and I'm really not looking forward to that. I don't like Doctors at the best of times, and I'm absolutely terrified of needles! However, I'm resigned to the fact that there's no way around it lol, and so I must bow my head, grit my teeth and suffer in silence ::)

Thanks in advance.

Personally, we wrote it out together from an 'our' perspective rather than myself and my wife separately, but each persons case is specific, plus we are living together so was easier to write that way. Others who are apart may write it as relevant to them.

Don't worry, it wall all be fine. All i basically had to do was the old reflex tests/weight/height/eye test etc etc. Not a needle to be seen!

My Husband and I live together too. Had a rather large overstay in the past (4 yrs ::),) and was given the choice to leave under my own steam, or have them deport me. Guess which option I chose! They said that if I left under my own steam that it would be 'wiped' once I'd left. I had no issues with reentry when I flew back 7 weeks later though. Seriously hoping this will not go against me! I will have to put that into my relationship documentation though. I have to be honest, and so I will be.

I have to admit though, I'm finding it a lot harder to write than I thought it would be. I mean, what sort of things are they looking for in particular? Do I need to include every single detail, like our sexual relations and all? Suppose it would help prove that we're genuine lol.

As per the medical, I have to have a full check at the Doctors office, then bloodwork at the lab, and then a chest X-Ray at another lab. This is at 9am Saturday. I'm so not a morning person, so couple that with not being fond of doctors, and a huge fear of needles, and I see me being a not very happy woman on Saturday lol.

But in all seriousness, any advice you can give me re: my documentation letter would be much appreciated.

Hi,

In our case, it was my wife (sponsor) who did a 5 page "Love Story" as she called it. :) She basically summarized our 3 year relationship from beginning to present and highlighted key events like our first meeting, birthdays, anniversaries, first time meeting the parents, the proposal, wedding... those sorta events. I think it's important, too, to write down what you and your partner felt during these special occasions.

I think it's a good idea to say a little bit about your sex life. In her documentation, my wife described how active our sex life is. ;) I'm sure the IO wants to see this level of intimacy between a couple.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks Jeans. That's very helpful, and also very sweet too :)

It's 5:40am here and I've had no sleep whatsoever ... so maybe I'm better off leaving it till after I got a lil bit of sleep lol.

Our 'development of relationship' was about 4 typed pages long. We didn't include anything about our physical relationship, although I'm not suggesting you omit it, just to decide whether you feel it's appropriate for your explanation or not.

I can see why people do include it, after all it's a part of the relationship!

However, not teaching anyone to suck eggs, but i would advise your letter to make use of the terms us/we/our with the grammar as opposed to I/she/he etc. I think it gives more unity to the sentence (but again, this is personal choice).

Regarding the medical, just think, by Saturday afternoon it'll be over!

No needle to be seen? How did you get your blood tests then?

They stuck me like a pin cushion to get my blood out. Apparently my blood doesn't run very fast or come out very quickly and so it took ages with a big needle sticking into me - and I hate needles too!

Hi, in my case i just use the space provided in the forms.. :D
don't have a long stories for them to read. very precise and straight. I just answered what is being asked :)
i guess, it really depends on how you describe your relationship on your perspective. so whether its a long or short documentation of your relationship, it doesn't matter as long it's the true story 8). mine, my sponsor and i have a 4 year relationship prior to marriage but i manage to put it short.. it wont even cover half of the 8.5x11 paper :p

I'm needle phobic too, but over the last 10 years I've had to have 100s of needle sticks. Here's what I do; maybe it will help you. I tell the doctor or assistant about my fears. Then I try every hard not to look at the needle (because for me the thought is actually much worse than the stick itself). A sympathetic doctor will usually just continue talking through the whole procedure...I've even had assistants stand on the other side of me holding my hand.

ps We didn't write much of a relationship statement either. Just 7-8 pics in chronological order with descriptions underneath each one.

Good luck and best wishes, Allison

Yep, apologies! I did give blood. Given my fair share recently, it's all blurred into one so must have forgotten about it. Either that or i passed out and never noticed...... lol

I was just very jealous if they stuck me with needles and not you...
