Working outside Canada for a Canadian company after work permit rejected? HELP

My work permit got rejected so I am leaving Canada. My employer has allowed me to work from my country for a few month. I am also in the process of applying for my CEC express PR.

Does working from my home country effect my PR application? I will still be getting paid the same way I was getting paid when I was working here and no changes to my contract.
Please let me know if this would negatively impact my application. A lawyer told me that it means I am still contributing to the Canadian ecomony so it might not be ok for me to work.

This is a bit confusing. So when you are issued a work permit it means you can work for a Canadian employee. Now if they reject your work permit some of the reasons would be that you don't have an LMIA or they feel the job you are working could be given to a canadian instead. If you go back to your home country and you are still working for a canadian employer which means taking a job away from a canadian after your work permit has been rejected, this may raise some red flags. The reason I say this is because when you file your papers for CEC and they look at the timeline you were working it would almost look like you never actually stopped working with that company even after the rejection.

If you want to be on the safe side you should end any employment with this company once you leave. Seek employment in your home country with a company from there. Don't make your file complicated if it doesnt have to be.
