Work Permit - will SOWP submitted the same time reduce chances?

Hello

My employer has got LMIA and I'm about to apply for Work Permit.

But my application is relatively weak - as a programmer I've done mostly freelance jobs and haven't completed higher education and has almost no ties to home country. I've attached all documents I could and reference letters supporting my experience, letter from future employer, I've done IELTS, Police certificates (though not required but to increase chances) etc.

I've read that they just don't like self employed or business owners so I still feel that my application not that strong.

I have a common law partner who is going to go with me but her application even weaker - she just finished studies and has no experience and little ties to home country as well.

The question will it be wise to apply for both of us the same time - me for Work Permit and her for Spousal Open Work Permit - I'm afraid that 2 weak applications might increase chances of refusal.

How do you think, or is it better for me to get WP first and then my partner to apply after that - will it increase chances for positive decision?

Thanks!

For your application since your employer has applied LMIA , i dont think you would need to worry much. However for your Common Law Partner your job needs to be NOC skill A, B or 0 for her to qualify for a work permit. She also needs to prove strong ties to home cpuntry. So my suggestion would be you apply your WP and then build her home ties here and apply for her SOWP.

mayuri.asrani - thanks for reply!

But why do you think I shouldn't worry?

It seems WP approval rate quite high - about 85% but there are a lot of cases of its denial - I've checked by searching this forum - most of them was because of either lack of experience or lack of education and I arguably have neither - it'll depend how immigration officer will look at experience - if he prefer to ignore all years of working as a freelancer on biggest clients (proven by reference letters but not official employment) as experience then I have almost none.

I qualified for Spousal Work Permit, my NOC is 2175 - Web Designers
