Hi All,

I have an offer from One of the biggest consulting firm's in Canada, Employer has Initiated my Work permit. Can you please advice me the max time span required for the same. Further to add in case if i my work permit is not approved by the Immigration team would it create any issue to me while i apply for a PR in mere future. Post i receive the employee permit/WP in case if i am not able to take up the job would the application expire. I mean would the same work permit be helping me to apply for other job in precise would the change of employer be possible from India.

Request you to please kindly advice me on the confusions.

Thanks a lot in Advanced.

There is really no maximum processing time. Processing could take anywhere from a few weeks to several months.

No - a work permit refusal will not impact your PR application.

If you get the work permit, it will only allow you to work for the specific employer that helped you get the work permit. You will not be allowed to work for any other employer in Canada. No - this won't help you apply for other jobs. If you want to work for someone else, you'll need to go through the entire work permit process from scratch again.

Thanks fro your kind response. With regards to transfer of Work permit , I could note that in the Immigration site, So you what does that mean...Also to add, The immigration Site shows something between 2 weeks - 10 weeks. It is it authentic.

I don't know what you are referring to. You would have to provide a link.

Again, if you want to work for a different employer once you're in Canada, that employer needs to obtain a new LMIA and you would need to obtain a new work permit.

This employer will need to get an LMIA for you BEFORE you apply for the work permit. The LMIA process takes 4-6 months. Employers only apply for the LMIA, so are you meaning they have started this process? You need to apply for thew actual work permit.
