Hello all,

I need your help on the following matter as I tried to check the information on the CIC website and cannot get a full confirmation.

My common-law partner has received a job offer through the Employer Portal (exemption from LMIA) and is ready to submit an application IMM 1295 for a work permit outside of Canada. The job offer is for a NOC A and for a one-year period.

I would like to know whether by putting my name as a common-law partner in her form IMM 1295 I could apply myself at the same time for an open work permit?

A little bit of background about myself, I am a French citizen with more than 5 years experience in the renewable energy sector with a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from a University in the UK and and PG Diploma from a University in the UK.

She is with me since October 2017 ( more than 1.5 year), we are engaged and leasing a place together.

Many Thanks,

Hi

Your background is irrelevant when applying as a dependent. Have you actually lived together continuously for at least one year?

The main question is if I can submit a open work permit application at the same time she is applying for her work permit (LMIA exempted) and whether we will receive both permits at the same time?

You won't necessarily receive your work permits at the same time. You may or you may not.

Yes, you can apply at the same time.
