I am in a bit of a situation here. Any help would be appreciated:

I applied online for my PGWP in 2019 but I had a family emergency so I had to travel and needed my visa and PGWP before my study permit expired.
So, I applied in person at a port of entry (flag-polled) and got my PGWP. My online application was cancelled because I already received my permit at the border.

Now, my permit isn't reflecting on my CIC account. It says- "cancelled" besides my application. I tried linking it using all the possible combinations of Application number, UCI, Name, Passport, but it isn't showing up.

I am eligible under the special public policy of PGWP extension but I fear that because of the cancelled application, I might not be able to get an extension.

Hi I risked it and went to the border (St Armand) while on implied status and got my WP approved on the spot. The officer said he is making an exception for me and definitely wont recommend me doing it in the future so I wont recommend anyone here to do it either . Just FYI.
Why would he tell you he's making an "exception" for you? That's BULLSHIT. He does it for you, but doesn't recommend anyone else do it in the future? Why? That sounds crooked and corrupt to me and I would file a complaint against that agent if I knew his name.

These officers can't simply be making an exception for you but not for me. They should lose their jobs if that's the case - what if this guy was a case processing officer and decided to "make an exception" and give PR to someone just because they turned up to an IRCC office and begged for it rather than wait their turn for their correspondence via mail or the online portal, like everyone else?

It is their job to process WP applications fairly and squarely, not because "they're having a good day" or "you seem like a nice guy". In fact the IRCC and SINP websites tell you to "Tell the officer that you want a work permit" if applying at a Port of Entry, so I'm not even sure if he understands his own obligations. Exception my ass.

Sorry I'm happy for you, but even the notion that a CBSA officer made an exception for you - but may decide to decline my exact same visa application at a Port of Entry - makes my blood boil.

Hey, for what is worth, I think he said that he "made an exception" because he doesn't want me to go around and tell people you can do this and encourage people to go there. I don't think he really broke some rules for ME, I am nobody and he had no particular reasons to help me. These kind of things are at their discretions anyways. So my takeaway is if you are desperate (as I was), you can sure try it, maybe they make exceptions for you too. But just know they don't encourage it and there are risks.

Didn't mean to make you upset, just thought this info might help someone.

Just to be clear, what the officer did for you wasn't an exception, it was actually their job. You probably had some officer who is 68 and is too tired/lazy to do actual work (you got your permit in Quebec after all, right?) to process permits so he wanted to pull your leg and say he's "making an exception" and make you feel better (like the gym owner who tells you he's giving you a special discount, but he's actually giving it to all his clients).

I went through the border yesterday and I had zero issues in having mine processed - a pretty Canadian woman processed mine without any hesitation whatsoever and I'm in a similar situation. I would honestly prefer you remove the whole "exception" thing from your post tbh so there isn't some presumption that people are taking a risk with this or hoping to get lucky when in fact it is their right to do so.

If anyone is looking for a new permit at a port of entry all you need to do is follow the instructions on this page: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/apply/poe.html (I even printed that with me in case the officer told me she was not going to do it).

This is the CBSA's job - to facilitate lawful travel, trade and entrance of eligible permit holders. The only thing I'd make sure of us is that you select a port that provides full immigration services.

Thanks for sharing your expirience. Need your suggestion ....

Can I do the flagpoling with having a valid TRV ? In my case, Current WP & Visa both expired on 9th July .
WP extension (Closed) filed on 7th May and expected to come in Mid october (As per the current timeline) but I have to travel to home country in first week of september due to family emergency.
