Work History & Personal History - What to Include?

Hi all,

After receiving my ITA I've been looking over the work history and the personal history sections before submitting the application.

In the 'Work History' section I have included all of my life's work history.

Should I be doing this or should I only be including the work I believe I can apply for immigration with?

It has all been copied over from my original application for the EE so I just gathered evidence for it all and was going to upload it.

Should I remove it at this point or just continue with the application as intended?

Just the experience that gains you program eligibility and/or CRS points needs to be included.

You can choose to do either of that. You will neither be rewarded for showcasing the 'extra' experience nor be penalized for removing it.

Hello Asivad,

So im filling out the form, post ITA. And I can see that in my personal history, it asks the following:

1 Please describe what this person was doing during this period (e.g. job title, position, etc.)
2 Please provide the name of the company, employer, school, facility as appropriate.
3 Country where activity took place
4 City/Town where activity took place

So, What do i give for the periods where I was unemployed?
I understand that for 3 & 4 I should give the location of residence, but what about 1 & 2(which are mandatory)?

Write Unemployed and N/A in those fields. Choose Employment category as well.

I have one last question for you Asivad! (as always ;) )

When I signed up to EE I had a job that I no longer think is getting me any points in my score. Now that I have had my ITA is it possible to delete it from my Work History and only include it in my Personal history without negative consequence?

I have evidence of the work but I really don't think its getting me any points and it was about ten years ago I don't think its valid anyway!

Cheers.

Hi Asivad,

Do we have to include NOC code in the job reference letter?

Also do we have to attach a business card of employer who is signing for that job reference letter? (Is it mandatory)

Can be edited out of your post ITA profile. Feel free to make those changes as long as they don't affect your program eligibility and/or CRS points.

All the best!

Not required, might help only if it is Canadian experience. CIC doesn't expect the outside World to know of, let alone follow, their internal job classification methods and codes.

Not a mandatory requirement. Helps to have their contact details in case any officer wants to connect with them.

Thanks Asivad.

What if I have canadian work experience?
Even then, it isn't mandatory but it helps if the supervisor/HR at your Canadian employer validates that you work in a particular NOC.

Thanks Asivad. I will contact my employer if he can regenerate that letter with the correction. Or else I will go with the previous letter without NOC code...

Thanks for your help.

And are you sure business card is not mandatory?Quoting from document checklist:

You must provide proof of each of your current and previous work experiences.

Your evidence should include a reference letter from your employer and previous pay stubs, where available.

The reference letter is an official document printed on company letterhead and must include your name, the company’s contact information (address, telephone number and e-mail address), the signature of your immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company and a business card of the person signing the letter. The letter should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties/responsibilities, job status (if current job), the dates you worked for the company, the number of work hours per week and your annual salary plus benefits.

Yes. Not mandatory in the sense CIC won't reject your application if it only lacks the business card and has everything else in place.
