Hi Guyz,

I am soon going to apply for FSW and was wondering about that what would be an appropriate format of the work experience letter of a job where the salary income was on percentage/commission basis.

I worked in a hospital for 1 year in their dental department as a fulltime dentist for 48 hours per week. My salary was 40% of the total income of the dental department every month which was variable.

So, If you guyz can please give me a sample of an appropriate work experience letter for such job and income.

Thanks

Hi,

CIC is not interested in knowing what your income was. They need reference letter to prove that your roles and responsibilities match against the NOC in which you are applying

There is no fixed format and the letter should hv the following details:

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:
•a reference or experience letter from the employer, which ◦should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
◦should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits;

For salary part , you can clearly mention that your's was more of a profit sharing/ commission based and also attach some recent pay stub's along with it.

Thank you so much for your feedback "rajanvnv"

I was asking about the salary part because CIC has mentioned that you have to include annual salary in experience letter. So is it ok if I just mention on the experience letter that my salary comprised of 40% commission of the total monthly income of the dental department instead of annual salary?

Yes, mention that 40% is variable and the rest 60% fixed and also attach few pay stubs to show them the evidence of the same.
