Work experience hours Calculation for CEC

Good evening,
I've read quite a few threads on here regarding the CEC hour calculation. My case, however, is somewhat different.
1)
I work in Oil and Gas, on a rotation, that is 7 days on and 7 days and off 12 hour shifts.
As per the stated rule on CIC website for CEC, only 30hrs/week are considered valid. If that's the case, I'll have to work 2 years to get 1 year experience and that just doesn't sound right to me. Any intake on this matter?

2)
I got my work permit on May 10th, 2018. I had started working with a company in April, 2018 and I worked with that company till June 22, 2018. Do the hours I worked with that company before getting my work permit also count towards 1 year experience?

3)
After working with that company, I got laid off on June 22nd. I found another job and started on July 25th, 2018. I've been working with this company since and so far i've worked 6 months for this company.
I will have the required hours if i count 84hrs/2 weeks on April 25th, 2019. If I take unpaid vacation after April 25th, 2019 and will i still be eligible apply for CEC after May 10th?

Exceptions are made in the case of alternative schedules that are the norm for a particular industry. This should be explained in your letter of reference.

Many people are only able to demonstrate hours on a bi-weekly basis, so the requirement would be 60 hours every 2 weeks = full-time, and at 84 hours bi-weekly, you clearly meet that definition.

So, no, you don't have to work 2 years to meet the requirement. :)

2) I got my work permit on May 10th, 2018. I had started working with a company in April, 2018 and I worked with that company till June 22, 2018. Do the hours I worked with that company before getting my work permit also count towards 1 year experience?

Well, of course unauthorized work experience does not count and can lead to refusal (and worse). Since you are making us guess about WHY you were working before getting the permit, I'm guessing you are referring to a PGWP? If that is the case, you were authorized to work from the date you applied for the permit. So it is possible that the experience will count. But you have to provide more details...

3) After working with that company, I got laid off on June 22nd. I found another job and started on July 25th, 2018. I've been working with this company since and so far i've worked 6 months for this company.

You have to work 1 year (52 weeks) if you work full-time. If you work full-time, you count weeks, not hours. (You only need to count hours if you work part-time). Since it looks like you have ~ 4 week gap between jobs, it looks like you will not be eligible until some time in May.

If you take an unpaid leave of absence, you also have to exclude that time from your experience. Paid vacation on the other hand counts as employment. If you are paid an hourly wage, check to make sure whether you have vacation pay included in each pay stub. If so, you can count 2 weeks of vacation as "paid."

thanks for your response.
One last question. If you work 30 hours per week for 12 months, you only have 1440 hours, not 1560. Am I missing something here?
30x4x12 = 1440.

And to Clarify me working without a work permit, I had a co-op workpermit, which was valid until I graduated. Between graduation and getting workpermit, i had like 15 days of gap, during which I still was employed under my co-op work permit.

Yes, you are. Most months have more than 28 days (4 weeks). On average. there are 4.3333 weeks per month. "30 hours per week" - the denominator is weeks, not months. I wish IRCC would make it more clear that one year =52 weeks as the work requirement.

@jes_ON do you know if someone works for exactly 364 days (30 hours/week, 52 weeks continuous), will they be qualified for CEC or FSW minimum requirements?

I hope you don't mean you worked 7 days a week non-stop (my sympathies if that is the case)

Yes, 52 weeks (where you work at least 30 hours per week) counts as one year.

Hi,
I have worked 40 hours a week (Mon-Fri). In this case, I have completed my 1560 hours way before 52 weeks.
Is it okay If I submit my application one or 2 weeks prior to completing exact 1 year?

I started working full time on 20-May-2019, can I submit my application before 20-May-2020, for e.g. on 1-May-2020?

You can only count max 30 hours per week, any excessive amount will get removed.

No. You must work at least one year (52 weeks) full time (30 or more hours per week) to be eligible. You can submit your profile if you want, but if you happen to get an ITA before you qualify, you will have to decline and go back into the pool.

Hi, I have a question about the way to count part-time on certain weird weeks. Let me explain:
I started a job on September 4th, 2018. It was a Tuesday because Sept 3rd Monday was a holiday. The office that I was working had a 8-hour day mon-thu, and half day (4hrs) on Fridays. So, my first week there I worked for 28 hours.
How do I count that week? Feels unfair to count as only a part time one (15 hours), specially since the very next week I worked 36 hours.
Should I just count it as 28?

If my guess is correct, then we just add all hours worked when less than 30 hours/week, or just add 30 for that week when you worked 30 or more, is that it? Can anyone confirm? Thank you!

Hi,

I also have the same question as you (Question 2).
Have you applied for the PR?
Did you use the experience after applying for the work permit?

Kindly confirm. It'll be of great help for my process.

No this is not correct. You can submit your profiile after 11 months and IRCC will count you as CEC eligible. You have 45 days to submit the documents. so you can submit once your 1 year is complete
many ppl have done this.
