Hello,

I submitted the sponsorship application for my ex-wife in October. I submitted under Family . But due to alot of misunderstandings and issues we are now divorced as I have divorced her through the religious islamic rights and currently the paperwork from Pakistan is still in progress.

Since the application still shows submitted on the PR Portal, I have sent a webform including the receipt of the application since I paid through my master card to withdraw my sponsorship.

My question is will this be enough to withdraw or do I have to wait to get the court papers first and send a webform again with the court papers finalizing our divorce? Secondly I saw online they say that you have to wait for 5 years before you can sponsor again and would like to confirm if it is true as currently the application is only submitted and I have not even received the AOR for it since it;s only been a month.

Thanks

You can withdraw the application at any time. You don't have to wait for court papers.

The 5 year wait time will not apply to you.

Thank you everyone. Yes I sent a webform to withdraw and attached the payment receipt as well. Luckily I submitted the application just a month ago so IRCC did not even open it and I might get a full refund :D
