Wish to immigrate to Canada after Trump won, my chances, and best strategies?

People is acting up like Trump is the new Hitler or Stalin who will round up all the non-white citizens in the US and shoot them from the back. Last time when Clinton wanted to tighten the immigration and started deporting people, no one was calling him a racist at all.

at least Clinton didn't ban Lawful Permanent resident alien from entering U.S.
Deporting illegal immigrates is one thing, banning foreigners already has been granted legal status without prior notice is another. especially when some of them are already U.S. PR and they are on their way becoming a full U.S. citizen.

The Muslim Ban remind many of us the Chinese exclusion act. European decedent immigrates usually don't think about this because they will never be affected by something like this.

I don't care for Democrats in the States who has been advocating the stupid Affirmative action all over the country(which is basically a positive discrimination policy similar to Nazi did to Jewish lawyers back in 1930s), but I don't like the idea a U.S. president is targeting a group of countries' citizen even some of them has already been granted permanent resident or other residence visa status.

yeah well this guy has a history being racist and molesting/disrespecting women; if you were a muslim/mexican/immigrant you would hate him as much . try and put yourself in their shoes .easy said than done!

It obviously sucks to be Muslims or Mexicans or just being an immigrant. However, Trump was legally elected as the President of the USA, he was voted by many US citizens who agree his policies, so if someone outside of the US doesn't like him, just don't come to the US until a new president is elected.

Well, I was referring to US non-residents/citizens. No doubt his immigration executive order is very stupid.

But I must say, it's not the US fault or Trump's fault, that some countries are a sh*thole full of corruption, drugs and gangsters.

Latinos, I understand since they mostly rely on Democrats to help get their southern brethren to stay in the States permanently.
White, I just don't know. Maybe it's a good indication that the anti rasicm/multicultural as so common and well believed in the States, so those white just feel offended by Trump. But then how did Trump end up being a US president if all the minorities and half the white don't like him?
I guess anti-trump faction just had a louder voice, not necessarily a greater number.

Again, mind you that there are also millions upon millions of US citizens voted for this orange potato head to be the President, so it also means that a big portion of the US agrees with his policies. Don't blame everything on him, he is just the product of the US public.

Yup, Clinton's supporters lost the election, so now they are trying to be vocal. However, I do fear for our economy, as Trudeau's "sunny ways" might not stand a chance against Trump's "make America great again... at all cost". Trudeau Jr. is going to meet Trump for the first time this Monday, so let's watch and see.

Indian and Chinese born have very long wait times (10+ years) to get permanent residency and with stringent legal immigration policy under radar, everyone wants to work out a backup plan if they need to go out of US. US system discriminates people on the country of birth, so even if someone is super skilled and super bright and making $200k at Google, they will have to stand in big queue if they are from any one of these countries.

There have been at least 5 or 6 bills by different congressmen and senators that have introduced in last 1 or 2 months that aims at restricting legal/family/employment based immigration in some way. All the key people appointed in his cabinet are completely against any form of immigration and so some policy screwing legal might arrive soon. Being near US, Canada is next best option available for people working in US. So naturally people want to try for that.

and you are absolutely right about the US system.

They have the so-called diversity lottery greencard which issues 50000 pr to worldwide, mostly underdeveloped countries, yet then they make people working in Google or Facebook born in China/India waitting for ridiculously long time just to file their applications.

I was outraged by this when I was in the States. I figured that it would be even easier for me to get a Canadian passport then get a TN visa to live in US instead of spending most important 10 years of my life worrying about immigration status. I guess I am on the right track now, most of my friends back in States has started their career in 2013 and none of them has filed green card application yet

Canadian generally make less money.....pay higher house prices and day-to-day stuff is more expensive to the US......auto insurance, food,cars,gas.
US immigration system does suck but other than that US is far better than canada, especially after 2008. Canada uses a bigger bubble to save its economy so that it doesn't fall but the drawbacks are obvious....

True I was surprised to know that a gallon of milk costs C$4.8 in Canada as compared to $2-$3 in US, that too with a lower salary brackets. From a savings perspective, I believe US is best among the west with higher income and lesser cost of living.

Learning Japanese only give you few opportunities in Japan, while learning English, you can practically work everywhere in the world. Plus, I don't really like the working hours in Japan that much.
