Welcome to my new thread. For those planning and will land in Winnipeg, Manitoba let's connect here!!! Me and my fmaily are planning to land in Winnipeg come February 2011. Were still waiting for the return of our passports with the maple leaf....

Goodluck to us all...

rene,

it's good u started this.... winnipeg is my first-loved destination too! but i've got to pass by edmonton first, to see what's in store for hubby and while waiting for assessment..coz i have a friend there..

hope to see you in winnipeg someday...

We indicated in our CPR winnipeg as our destination. But time changes, we decided to land in toronto. And its fine to land anywhere in canada except quebec because we are under FSW1. Some factors of our change destination are:
1. Lots of Friends in Toronto (It may help).
2. Toronto has the biggest job basket.
3. Toronto is the Economic hub of canada.
4. Much better weather condition compared to winnipeg (Winnipeg is the coldest city in canada)
But its your decision guys, just want to share what my heart says.

Hi Rene and Maharlika,

We are also planning to land in Winnipeg this April, we have no relatives there though so we'll see what's gonna happen. At this point I am trying to research for a place where we could stay...if you have any idea kindly share them.

@Rene: When did you lodge your application to CRNM? Are you eligible now to take the CRNE without CCA? When did you graduate and how many years of paid experience do you have? I just took Academic IELTS a week ago and am planning to submit my application to CRNM once result has been released.

@Maharlika: No assessment from them yet?

Good luck to all of us!

Hi count me in.I'm planning to move to manitoba this 1st week of April because I have competency assessment there. Currently I'm here in Edmonton working as Nurse Assistant. I will go there by train. However, I dont know yet where to stay because i'm planning to rent 1 bedroom apartment. Have to find affordable one.

hello,

may i ask how many years of experience u have as a nurse? are you a second courser? goodluck to your competency exam, i hope you'll get it so you'll just take crne after that..

by the way, u r now in edmonton and currently working as a nurse assistant. what can you say about the nurse assistant job? is it tiresome, backbreaking, etc.?

thanks..

kanebo,

no, i don't have assessment yet....waiting..

Winnipeg is our choice as well. I'm a food service manager and my wife is a registered dietitian.

I haven't browsed the manitoba site yet. What's there that makes you choose this over the other provinces?

wow..this thread is really quite interesting, Manitoba was my first choice because I have a friend out there who is currently working as a R.N,and also I heard a lot of good info about that place and the best part,Manitoba is more lenient if you want to apply for CRNM compared to other province in Canada as what I have read. However, when the changes comes especially visa requirement,I have to look for another province!

yes, im a second courser, got nursing degree for two years. Nurse assistant job is not that hard. we used mechanical lifts to do lifting, so it's is not a problem and in our hospital it is always a must that u have a partner when lifting.

Hi chris,

Can you share how much they pay you per hour? or Does your income right now as nursing assistant can pay your bills?

im paid 18$ per hour and there will be increase come April of 1$ more. I have more then two years experience in the Philippines as RN.

chris,

thanks for the info...how did you apply? did you apply online while in the philippines or applied only after arrival there? how about chances, are there lots of nursing attendant jobs there as of this time?

thanks once again..

manitoba is best for nurses...in many aspects, better see the web and see for yourself the goodness of the said province ;)
