;D I am a born Canadian and have lived in Manitoba all my life, mostly in Winnipeg or just outside of Winnipeg. People who move here from other countries have no idea what cold really is until they experience a Winnipeg winter. I can usually pick out the new immigrants from the people born in Canada or who have at least been here a few years by the way they are dressed when its only -10. It may have been mean of me but I laughed a little at some of the expressions on my BF's face last winter when he experienced his first Canadian winter.

Anyway, if anyone has any questions about living in Winnipeg feel free to ask.

Shared by a Lost Friend.

1. Carry few formal wear but mostly casual wear like Shalwar Qameez, Jeans & shirts, Inners, few shoes, joggers, slippers, socks, few sweaters, Woolen Caps, gloves & mufflers, Belts, Wallet/Ladies Bags etc.

2. Plastic Dinner set

3. All small kitchen/household items like whisk, stainer, grater, peeler, scissors and small items of daily use.

4. A complete Cutlery set.

5. Dont buy/take lots of clothes for kids as they are in growing age so six months stuff would be OK.

6. Just 1 Warm jacket/Long Coat for each family member. Buy rest of jackets from Canada.

7. Few self grooming stuff like Lotion, Shampoo, Soap, nails & Foot filer, Teeth brushes, Tooth paste, Combs & Hair brushes etc, just for survival. Also Ladies make up stuff.

8. You might not get furnished flat to start life. So consider buying curtains, cushions & pillows in compressed form.

10. Bed sheets for double bed/Single bed.

11. Plastic & Steel daily use kitchen ware.

12. Few packs of Masala/Spices again for survival only.

13. Extra Eye/Sun glasses.

14. Gillette shaving stuff as it is expensive there.

15. Carry Essential Clothes Only. For outdoors you need Pull Overs and Jackets , since all residences are centrally heated , you can easily wear cotton/moderate stuff dresses in your houses.

17. Carry Tawa, Regular Degchis(Pots), Pressure Cooker, Wooden/Steel cooking spoons, Steel/Plastic Glasses & Jugs, Frying pan, Sauce Pans, Plastic containers & Jars, Cups etc etc.

18. Buy Fleece Blankets or any other light weight blankets.

19. Carry three months essential medicines. You may need to produce a Doctors prescription on Airport for them.

20. For kids, buy School bags, Stationery & few toys.

21. Jaye Namaz, Topi, Quran-e-pak, Tasbeeh or other Islamic/Dua books.

Winnipeg has some not so nice/safe area's to live in. So if you are paying less than $750/month rent for a one bedroom apartment or less than $800/month for a 2 bedroom then you are likely not in a great area. I pay around $900/month for an average 2 bedroom in an average area of town. There are some expensive high rise condo's in the downtown area that are secure but for the most part try to avoid to close to downtown (the city centre) and live in areas like St. Vital, East Kildonan, The Maples and Transcona.

I think the biggest problem my BF had with finding a job was not having any local references that the employer could call. Most places won't hire someone without a reference and it can be too much of a hassle for an employer to have to call for a reference to another country. If you can, get letters of references from employers to take with you. This won't be as good as being able to call the employer but it will at least be something.

Grocery stores like Safeway and Sobey's tend to be a little more expensive unless you buy things when they are on sale there and even sometime their sale prices are more expensive than regular prices at SuperStore or Walmart. So I would suggest shopping at SuperStore and Walmart for food until you get to know what prices are like.

I would suggest getting some kind of cell phone with internet as soon as you can because the google maps app will be very use full when you are learning your way around a new city.

Oh and we love our hockey team so expect people to talk a lot about The Jets (our team) from October-March. Go Jets go! ;D

You check your related guide there clearly said what they want but normally any photo copy English document you have to certified by Notary public or other as per instruction. But recently i see PNP program Guide not tell any photo copy need certified better if you send certified. No need regional copy certified.

i can not understand your my question is a document orgnally in english would require to be certified ?
