I have only been a permanent resident for 1 year but I think it sucks how I now have to wait 3 more years to apply for citizenship instead of 2 more years.

I am a Winnipeg applicant and would like to share my timeline (as it appears on my ecas) with you:
We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on January 29, 2015.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on March 4, 2015.
We started processing your application on March 13, 2015.
We sent you a notice on June 12, 2015 to appear and write the citizenship test on July 7, 2015 at 10:45 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.
The fourth line used to be "you application was sent to your local office in Winnipeg on March 25, 2015 ...." but was recently replaced by the test notice statement.
I'll have to get ready for the test ...
Congratulations! ;D Good luck on the test!WendLassida said:Hello everyone,

SoJo16 said:I was sworn in as a Canadian Citizen this morning! It was really heartwarming. It took about 2 hours. They were very touchy about needing to see everyone speak the oath. They reviewed the notice to appear to be sworn in, and they took my permanent resident card. They did not review my passports or identification. I was given a citizenship certificate with a number. We were advised to wait two days before applying for a passport so they could update our records to indicate we were now citizens.
Thanks again to everyone on this forum who shared personal experiences.
