Good news friends, I Ecas was been updated! They have sent my notice for Citizenship Ceremony for June 8! Feel so relieved!

Hi Alainski,

Congratulations! You have finally reached the end of a very long journey. By the way, when did you pass your citizenship exam?

Thanks Aspire! I took the test on March 30th.

Based on the trend that i have noticed, 1.5 months after your test you will receive your notice for oath ceremony and ceremony itself after another month. so its safe to say that wait time after citizenship test is 2.5 to 3 months.

Here's my timeline:

We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on March 24, 2014.

We sent you a letter acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on March 24, 2014. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.

We started processing your application on May 6, 2014.

We sent you a notice on March 16, 2015 to appear and write the citizenship test on March 30, 2015 at 7:45 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

We sent you a notice on May 11, 2015 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on June 8, 2015 at 9:15 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.

It took 14 months and 2 weeks to finish the process. Better than 24 months for routine application. CIC is indeed reducing the backlog!

Kudos CIC! :D

So I sat my test this morning, and it was better than I expected! I passed, and it was about 45 minutes from when I entered the test room to when I left the building after having had my documents checked (which was way better than the 3-4 hours some people on various boards had been saying to expect! - guess they must be at bigger centres)

Important note for everyone taking their test at the Forks - there is free 3 hour parking in the Forks parkade nearby. Just keep going all the way to the top 2 floors because that's where the unreserved spots are. I mention this because our test start was delayed by over 10 minutes thanks to one individual who was trying to find a parking spot. Having arrived around 30 minutes early, this was a bit annoying!

Now just to wait for my oath ceremony date...I've already started planning a party! Crossing fingers I might get super lucky and have it on Canada Day..!

Thank you Alainski and congratulations again.
Last weekend I had a chat with a friend who has a cousin who took his test in the last week of April. And guess what? This fellow received an oath notice 2 weeks after passing the exam! Did you guys know anything similar?
