Hi,
I got a job offer in Canada. I was planning to apply for a temporary work permit. My partner wants to come with me, but she got a ticket for reckless driving a year ago. In our home state, (the first) reckless driving ticket is not a criminal offense. Her criminal record according to our home state is clean. We come from a visa-waiver country, so we would typically not need a temporary resident visa.
I have read through the CIC website and it is pretty opaque to me what happens in this case. In most other states reckless driving is a misdemeanor rather than just a ticket. Additionally, we visited Canada twice recent (1 and 4 months ago) and had no trouble whatsoever at the border (we crossed at an airport).
Will we need to disclose the ticket when applying for a work permit? If so, will we need a Temporary Resident Visa as well? Will she still be able to get a work (or study) permit if she needs a TRP?
Thanks
