Will visitor record affect implied worker status?

Hi All,

I have a question about visitor record and implied worker status. I have been told it is better to submit a visitor record if my current work permit expires soon in case my family sponsorship + OWP is returned for some reason such as incomplete form / document.

My situation is: I have applied inland sponsorship + OWP. My current PGWP is expiring in 2 days. After 2 days, I will be in implied worker status. If I apply a visitor record before current status expires, will it change my implied worker status to visitor in below 2 scenarios:

1. change implied worker status to visitor as soon as I submitted visitor record.

2. change implied worker status to visitor when visitor record is approved.

I checked the implied status and visitor record web page on IRCC website but couldn't find a answer. The clarification of second application doesn't explain my situation and if work permit is approved first and visitor record is approved later, does visitor record change/cancel work permit in any way?

If your work permit is expired and you have extended your stay as visitor, you are on implied status of visitor . If you granted visitor visa before you get work permit after work permit is approved your status will change form visitor to work permit holder.

Thanks for reply Miss bee. If I applied 2 extension: work permit first and then visitor record, I am in implied status before any app's approval, do I have implied status of worker or visitor? My concern is I will lose my implied worker status if I apply visitor record.

Well you have applied for visitor status online but for your work permit you have to actually wait for 6-7 months to get approved. I think you are on visitor implied status. What is your status right now ?

I will be in implied worker status next week. I haven't applied visitor record yet. Not sure if I should I apply. I am concerned if I applied visitor record, it will overwrite implied worker status, which I'd like to have.

I think it’s better to wait for work permit application but also incase your work permit application got returned due to anything missing you will fell

I am in the same situation and my consultant recommended me to apply for visitor record just in case of any problem in my work permit application. What about your status, did you resolve it? Thanks
