Hello, unfortunately, due to various reasons, I want to take a break from studying.

My situation is a bit weird. Let me explain.

I have received about 4 years worth for my study permit, as I have applied and undergone 1 year of uni. However, I plan to switch to a 2 year diploma program. Would it be okay to take a year off? and use my last 2 years to go to college.

Hopefully it doesn't affect my changes at getting PR in the future.

No, you can't take 1 year off because after 90 days of your studies end the study permit becomes invalid and taking a break means you are not enrolled in any course that counts as not studying

If I'm not able to enroll in september (due to the program being full), could I enroll in the january course instead ? Without any problems.

That's more than 90 days I think you should discuss this with your institution and if that's possible without invalidating your study permit
