Dear All,

I have completed my bachelors of business administration in Finance and Marketing. Duration of the course was 4 years. Also, I would like to point out that the university has issued 2 certificates as I had two majors. I have gone through couple of threads here and I am confused whether this will be considered as Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. In the CIC website it is mentioned that having a Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years) will be considered as two certificates. I am planning to apply for ECA next month. It would be a great help if someone can provide some more information on this matter. Thanks a lot.

To claim points for "Two or more certificates" under EE, one of the degrees have to be a bachelor degree with a minimum duration of 3 years. If your ECA says, "Two bachelor degrees of two years each", you can't even claim points for "single bachelor degree"!! :)

Your best foot forward is to get your ECA done first. Only then you'll have enough details to choose correct education level.

It's a three year degree PLUS a 1 year+ post secondary qualification, both of which need to have an ECA (if non-Canadian) and the equivalency must match up to the approved list (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp).

For you to claim two or more degrees based on your four year bachelors, it would need to be "A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree" PLUS your "Dual Bachelor’s degree (four years)". Now if you did something like an intercalated degree, this could be two degrees, e.g. some Medical schools do a 6 year course with a 1 year BSc/MSc in between, resulting in two distinct awards (medical degree+one more).

Your bachelors degree in itself is not two degrees even if you have two majors. However if your degree can be interpreted (as proven by transcripts etc) as being a 3 year bachelors degree with a one year post-bachelors certificate on top of that as a distinct and separate programme, it may give you two degrees. Get your ECA done.
