Good question I noticed this also. You could submit an information act request to ircc asking why it was changed From citizen to subject in 2012 and the legal basis for this given that the relationship with the monarchy hasn't changed since 1982 (subject meaning of a monarch as per British law)...
Please also be aware of the rules surrounding visiting your "home" country as a refugee.
If it's a third country, it may be allowed. However not sure that aunt counts and in any case, you have to show why you need to be there.
What's preventing you from visiting your aunt on your current nationality?
They only grant these family medical emergencies when you can show that you cannot obtain a passport in your current nationality. Don't want to doesn't count.
It wasn't rude as much as not friendly on the Canadian side but I was more concerned about why they would ask the nature of my visit to the US.
To be fair it could have been the officer in question. On the way out, the cbsa were very helpful to give me a card detailing the goods I'm carrying so...
Thanks for the input.
I can appreciate if the questions relate to customs (on the Canadian side). But it would make sense to me to for them to ask directly if you've bought anything and then if applicable, ask how long you've been away to determine your tax free allowance.
I felt the line of...
I did my first Canada-US road border crossing as a citizen. Is it normal for the US side to probe ones reason for short visit?
And on return is it normal for the Canadian side to ask why you visited the US and how long you were away for? I found that to be concerning as I’m re-entering my own...

So should I have not mentioned the previous name, since there was no difference? Perhaps it will give the new delhi babus a brainfreeze/severe epileptic fit.
Should have I provided a name change affidavit in my case? My surrendered Indian passport has my current name. I understood that if there was a difference between Indian and Canadian passports, an affidavit would be required.
If they do want an additional document, will they request it, or would it be rejected?
I answered yes to previous name change but didn't include an affidavit as my Indian and Canadian passport match. Worried they may not like this.

Wouldn't you still need an Egyptian "medical visa" as a Canadian citizen? That would presumably take the same amount of time as any other passport holder?
