Hello Everyone,

I got the ITA from the Express Entry draw that took place on November 27. My wife had her medical done recently for her Open Work Permit. I am just wondering, does she need to get another medical done for the PR application as part of Express Entry or will the one for OPW work?

Thanks!

Validity for medicals is 1 year and usually medical for EE is worker non EDE.

Sorry but Im still confused, does this mean she doesnt require a medical? I know for EE you have additional tests that were not there for OPW.

Technically there are no additional tests for PR. The requirements are the same as with work permits in general. However, the medical has to explicitly state that it was done for permanent residence program. EDE or non EDE etc. are codes for different situations among them.

So short answer is that yes your spouse would have to do another medical for PR since likely her existing medical would say it was done for work permit.

I have seen people doing medicals for PR but doctor making mistake of stating work permit and CIC not accepting it and then back and forth between them for a while to get it cleared. So clearly medicals for wp are not accepted for PR but the reverse is possible.
