Hello everyone,

I am asking for a friend who got accepted to come and study in Canada.

His wife wants to accompany him, she is pregnant and will be expecting to deliver within the first 3 months when they arrive to Canada.

I know that they aren't eligible for MSP (Medical Service Plan) until after their 4th month in Canada.

Would the private insurance cover the costs of delivering the baby in Canada?

Could you please provide any feedback if you've been in a similar situation or if you could redirect in the right way?

Thank you

It is extremely unlikely that they will find any medical insurance that would cover delivery. This could be a very expensive choice.

No - private insurance will not cover the costs of the birth. They will have to pay for the costs of the birth themselves.
