Why do I bother.....

When someone posts a question and I answer honestly, to the best of my knowledge and that person does not like the response, they immediately give me negative karma... :)

Maybe, I should just lie, tell them what they want to hear and watch their application fail?

Or maybe I should stop posting period?
 
The same things happen to me, that is why I rarely contribute.
 
You guys shouldn't stop posting just b/c of a few bad eggs. Just ignore them and don't stop posting :)
 
Keep posting, the whole immigration process is very stressfull for everyone, especially when people hear something they dont like. But as I said to one person we comment on experience, good, bad, and ugly, and if you dont like it, you dont have to read it!
 
I agree it's annoying but I make myself not post unless I have something constructive to say and I think that would help. I mean, it's really not worth my time to post a rant about someone being an idiot anyway (by idiot I mean judgemental, closed minded, fraudulent, etc, etc). Unless I have something constructive to add (information that may actually be helpful) I just stay out of it because otherwise it does just start up battles or feed the negative energy of those who are just saying things to get a rise out of others.

As an example: one guy's wife is divorcing him mid application so he won't divorce her so he can get into Canada. I want to say 'you are what's wrong with this process and as a canadian i don't want you in my country.' But what I actually said was 'remember that doing so would be misrepresenting yourself and could lead to you being banned.' :) (but really - stop wasting IOs time and let them focus on applications of real couples that want to be together!)

So don't stop posting because you have as much a right to be on this forum as anyone else... just ignore those posts that are clearly not going to add to anyone's experience except by adding stress and frustration for you.
 
I pay absolutely no attention to the karmacrap. Its supposed to give you good or bad luck, but I had more bad luck before I started coming to this forum so there yah go. It really doesnt mean anything. You can give good information and someone doesnt like it, but dont worry what others think. If they knew they answers they wouldnt be asking. :D

I've stopped unless I feel a real need to respond. When I first found the forum I was always posting and trying to join in some general banter but I have decided it's not worth it. Some people will always have another opinion or dislike what you say and want to start some argument. (Unless it is a valid point or is correcting some misinformation I have received I think it is a waste of time to even respond)

That being said there are a couple of people here that I know I can send a PM to and get reliable information from and I greatly appreciate that but as for posting...it's a personal judgment call.
I don't believe in karma but I do believe in blessings...sending lots your way ;D
 
yeap i used to get really upset with the negative karma, but i realised everytime i got negative, someone else give me a positve karma! :) So my positive karma is always one step ahead of negative karma.
Maybe we should have good karma day! :) lol.

Try not to get upset and for goodness sake don't stop posting just because someone doesn't like what you have to say. I need you all to respond to my questions whether I like the answer or not, or whether I care to admit that your right or not. You keep me sane through all this. Immigration is such a scary process and many people are away from their love ones for long periods of time. Fear does some pretty crazy things to people.

Everyone deals with the stress from this process differently, but it mostly comes down to one thing, fear. When people are afraid some people get angry, some say terrible things to one another, others just rant, while some spend excessive amounts of time researching or responding to forums, some people ease their anxiety by helping others on forums, and others just need a place to fight with people because they don't know how to deal with these intense feelings. Some responses are more socially appropriate than others yes, but keep in mind that we don't know their whole story. In the end we are all trying to make sense of a terribly unfair, subjective and confusing process.
 
I am a admin on a SMF Forum, maybe the admin should just uninstall the whole Karma add-on, as well as do the <1 min automated update to the current version of the forum.

I just think if the Karma stuff is upsetting people, or causing people to decline to provide advice at times I would vote to remove it. It does not take long to figure out who provides true help from reading posts.

Or maybe just post the number of +'s people have. It would give people positive reinforcement to response without the punishment of getting a -. Increasing the responding and giving people something to strive for. Sorry I'm a unemployed behavior analyst, this is the kind of stuff that I do during a normal day at the office. And since I can't work right now, this makes me feel like I'm doing something. Hope this advice isn't annoying.
 
Personally if somebody doesnt like what you have to say when you give a truthful and constructive answer..then that is their problem..not yours, sometimes the truth hurts..

for example if somebody deliberately did something that could harm their application and you give them the response they didnt want to hear..like they really messed up and stayed illegally in Canada and you say they need to leave Canada or something like that...if they didnt want that response they shouldn't post it in the first place..

I post on 2 forums..and for some reason this forum has a lot more negative and aggressive posters than the other one! I also ignore the Karma stuff..its not really a good reflection on the posters on here as I am sure people go around giving negative Karma just because they dont like people on here..not necessarily the answer that was given to a post..

Dont stop posting on here..I have seen your posts and your replies are very helpful to applicants..

I think I was just having a 'drama queen' day. ;)

Although my application is now finished and finalized, I realized how many people were still going through the torment of the immigration system and felt if I could offer any encouragement or advice from my own experience from start to finish, then it would maybe ease the terrible time we have/had to go through.

But like others have stated, certain people do not deserve my advice and certain people make me so angry with their blatant fraudulent applications, that I find it hard to hold back.

Maybe I deserve the negative karma in those situations, who knows?
