My sponsor is leaving me to do EVERYTHING because he doesn't understand the whole process if i hadnt have done so much research and was as clueless as him we would have ended up wasting thousands of dollars for an immigration lawyer for a simple straight forward case with 6 years worth of evidence of a genuine relationship!!!

So i ask all of you who did more work on your case the sponsor or the applicant?

Well, I would say I did most of the work, I'm the applicant. Mostly, because I'm kind of more organized than he is and I'm a bit of aa perfectionist :) I also think that the applicant has a lot more to fill out than the sponsor.

I am doing most of the work (applicant). My husband would prefer to engage a lawyer to see our case through once we file the application, but that's his decision. I am gathering all the evidence, doing all the research, he is paying the fees and getting what he needs to get to be approved to sponsor and submitting the application. We decided this was an equitable division of the labour since the fees are such a large part of the application, and he will be able to earn all of it faster than if we waited until I could afford the applicant fees.

That sounds a lot like my situation. I even put little post it bits on the sponsorship forms where he has to sign.

It might be slack on his behalf, but then again that's why we make such a good team and have such a good marriage, I'm good at this type of thing and he's good at other things and so we complement each other.

I (the applicant) did 85-90% of it, though we wrote the documentation of our relationship together.

I (applicant) did everything as well. He just had to sign the forms, get his work letter and Option C, and paid the fees online. Thanks god he didn't move too much and his background was very easy, his jobs are recent as he is young so there wasn't too much information to gather. I did everything else alone :(

my husband and i did equal share of work. :) for the inital application.
for the second lot of evidence, I did 90%. But only because i had all the evidence at hand and it was my embassy to drop the information in.

Im the sponsor and I got all our chats together as he didnt have a printer and I prepared most the documents, I helped him with his section cause he panics too much LOL.. I needed some sanity to this already crazy process. So he filled out his portion and gathered all he needed and we both wrote about our relationship and both collected letters and put them together, but the majority of the effort was mine.

I'm the sponsor and I would say I had to do 90% of the gathering of the info. Again I'm female and my boyfriend said he didn't understand most of it as english isn't his first language ( although I tend to believe he understands more than he lets on lo).

i am the sponsor and i did 99% of it.. my husband doesn't speak english.
i asked him the questions and filled it out for him... editing it to make it sound better

even though i speak english the forms were difficult to understand.

Hee hee.. I wish this thread had been on while I was preparing my application. I felt so bad to be the one doing all the work and thought it's not normal, I thought all the stress of the forms and gathering the evidence should be handled by both but he never participated :( I think we argued a few times about it too.. now I see it's normal, kind of makes me feel better..

Wish I had seen things the way MandiF does, but then again, we are newlyweds :) I think there is a lot to learn for both of us still!

OK male applicant here, I did most of the application, even filling in most of my wife's forms for her, as I just had more time to do it and had kept a lot more evidence than here cos I am a natural squirrel. The only things she did really was write out her story of how the relationship started and progressed and then signed everything and posted it on, when she received the package from me for her to read over.

It was just the natural way for us to do it, because as I say, I had more time than her and also she doesn't like paperwork. :)

I'm the sponsor and I did most of the work. My husband's English is not too good, so now I feel guilty with just giving him his parts of the application and expecting him to be able to fill them out. Really guilty. He managed to do it, but not well. I collected the evidence, redid the application forms, paid the fees and sent everything in.
