The only people who can sponsor you in most provinces are your parents if you are under age or your children if they are Canadian citizens and 18 or older and making enough money or your spouse / common law partner. Siblings, aunts and uncles (siblings of your parents) could also sponsor you if you are under 18 and an orphan.

There is a clause stating that a person can sponsor "one other relative" but this is only if that person has no family or spouse in Canada and no other closer relatives alive that they could sponsor.

Then you have the provincial nominee programs in Manitoba and Saskatchewan and they allow a few more options.

You can find the MB PNP here: http://www2.immigratemanitoba.com/browse/howtoimmigrate/pnp/pnp-family_support.html and SINP here: http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/family-members where it says that if you have first degree cousins there, those are the children of your parents siblings, they can sponsor you. Manitoba also offers that if you have 2 distant relatives there who will sponsor you, that will also work, see http://www2.immigratemanitoba.com/browse/howtoimmigrate/pnp/pnp-general.html

For these programs, you need to meet certain requirements for age, funds, education and work experience and your relatives must have lived in the province for at least one year.

Immigrating , child with slight autism

Good day ! Leon,

After a year of application under CEC I was able to received our medical forms. I will be undergoing my medical exam tomorrow.
My question is my youngest son, He has a slight autism,do you think this might hamper our way in immigrating here in Canada?
I told my wife since they will be having their medical exam by next week to bring with her a diagnosis/prognosis of my child ( latest , he is to be assessed today in the Philippines ), teachers/ school reports of his progress and his therapist evaluation as well, He is quite an achiever having academic excellence for the past 2 years in school ( Silver 2009-10, Gold 2010-11 school year ).

Have you encountered any similar case like ours? Enlighten me with this please.

Have a good one and God bless!

The medicals for an autistic child may take longer because they may want specialist reports but I know of people with a Down's syndrome child being allowed to immigrate. I have never met anyone on here with an autistic child. What CIC goes by is what the likely costs are going to be because of this child. If they feel that he will cost them more than I think it is $5000 a year in therapies, they may refuse.
