Which is faster: Apply from Canada or Abroad?

I am a Canadian woman and I have been living in Egypt all my life. I got married four months ago and I wish to establish my life in Canada with my husband. He has a a very good job here in Egypt, and I am self-employed and i earn different income each month.
I would like to move to Canada as soon as possible. I am not sure which way is faster: Apply to sponsor my husband from Egypt and wait together until we get approval, OR go to Canada alone, get a job with stable income, to prove that i can provide for my applicant and also to prove my will of re-establishment, and then apply for sponsorship? Also, I have around $20,000 in bank account, so does that account as an ability to provide for my spouse instead of having to find a job in Canada?
Another question: does he automatically get a work permit once granted sponsor visa?
PS: I am planning to move to Quebec.

It is usually faster to apply from outside Canada. You will have to proof CIC that you intend to live in Canada once the process is finished.
Once the process is finished and he has his permanet resident card he will be able to work.

CIC processing time for difference countries. Shows 18 months for Cairo but I am not sure how accurate that is...

Visit CIC website. Wasn't allowed to post the link here.

Thank you Morrigan. I know it's 19 months for Egypt. I was just thinking that maybe if I went to Canada alone for the time being (to prove my will of re-establishment and to prove my ability of providing for my sponsor) that would improve my case. thus, make it faster?

That's exactly one of the angles you have to overcome . . . proof of re-establishing yourself in Canada. I would go about it the same way that you are, (come to Canada first). Not sure how much "faster" it will be, but would be one LESS thing for the visa officer to consider.

Because you have lived in Egypt all of your life, you would need more proof than the average sponsor that you will return to Canada. So I would say going to Canada and getting a job before applying to sponsor would probably speed up the processing - since you would then not need to prove your intentions to return. Still, you would then be away from your husband for more than a year, probably.

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can apply to sponsor your husband while you are living outside of Canada. So you could then stay with him while the application is being processed. The problem is then proving you will go to Canada to live, especially because you have lived in Egypt all your life.

Isn't it better for you to apply outside then you can stay with him while the process is happening then you two move together when it's time?

We could do that of course but i only thought of going to Canada alone and strengthening my case so i get the approval fast. It's going to very hard for me to stay away from him. If it took me a year waiting inside Canada alone, then i'd rather stay in Egypt and wait together. I just hoped we could get him into Canada by next winter. By proving that our relationship is genuine (by documents and evidence) and by proving my true will of re-establishment and ability of taking all his expenses,i thought i should go to Canada and send the application from there stating my new condition.
One friend of his, got into Canada with his Canadian wife in 6 months. But that was 3 years ago. Not sure about now..
