hello guys,

I have an IELTS (Academic) score card. will it be ok for my application to FSW category or i have to write IELTS (General Training) score card. is there any complustion for it.

Yunusee and my reply is a bit contradicting.... I would say he is right. If you are just about to take IELTS then you better take General but if you have just taken EILTS academic then you could submit that one to CIC.

Then why does CIC state that you must take the General?

PMM

quote from OP6 ...

10.6. Approved testing organizations
At the time of printing, approved testing organizations included:
English language testing organizations
• Applied Research and Evaluation Services (ARES), University of British Columbia
administers the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
• The University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate, Education Australia, and the
British Council administer the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Note: For the IELTS reading and writing tests, there are ‘General Training’ and ‘Academic’ options. Only
the ‘General Training’ tests are accepted for CIC purposes
.

But, I remember once someone posted on this forum that he showed his academic card and was awarded 16 points...

so, take your call.

a lot depends on the mood of the visa officer assessing your fiel :) why to take a chance ?

For CIC only and only general module is required. Because there is a difference between academic and general.
Academic emphasis on whether candidate is able to study in English module and general module emphasis on day to day communication skills.

pak1 .... I have applied FSW also. I now have my medical request and rprrf requests. I submitted an academic module for ielts. It seems there was no problem.
