Please clarify on IELTS

Hi all, I am planning to immigrate to Canada as a permanent resident under FSW program and continue my studies(MS) there. My doubt is that which version of IELTS i need to attend? whether its general training or Academic? according to CIC website, FSW program requires general training test only...but as per my university admission guidelines, i have to take academic version...so if i take academic version of IELTS, will it be accepted by CIC for my immigration purpose?

Only general is accepted for immigration purposes. If you submit academic then your immigration application will be automatically refused.

Ridiculous as it seems, yes, both. Our friend did both and found very little difference between them.
