Do I send in the sponsorship and undertaking application first and wait for approval and then have my husband fill out the permanent residence in canada application and send it in after, or do i sent in the sponsorship application along with the permanent residence in canada application (filled out by my husband) together. If the permanent residence application is to be sent in after sponsorship application is approved, does it get sent to the immigration office in Kingston, Jamaica or does it get sent to Canada immigration office?

The applications for both sponsorship and permanent residence should be filled out and sent at the same time.

see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-how.asp

and

After the person you are sponsoring has filled out all the sponsorship, immigration and region specific forms, they must send them to you with the supporting documents.

Once the all forms are properly filled out and all supporting documents are gathered, you must send the complete application kit to the Case Processing Centre.

Case Processing Centre – Mississauga
P.O. Box 3000, Station A
Mississauga, Ontario L5A 4N6

If you do not send the sponsorship and immigration applications together or these are not completed correctly, the Case Processing Centre will not process them. They will return the applications to you (the sponsor.)

Send everything together to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, ON. Once the sponsorship is approved they will forward the immigrant's application to the overseas visa office. Also, there is a courier address in Mississauga so that you can track the package, the Robert Speck Parkway address. CPC-M will not otherwise notify you that they have received your application.

I spoke to two male co-workers who are Jamaican and their wives are Canadian today and they informed me that their wives sent in the sponsorhsip application alone with all the fees except landing fees and once approved Immigration sent them a letter that the application is approved and is in process. Canada Immigration then sent a letter to Immigration in Kingson, Jamaica in regards to the sponsorship application being approved. The Immigration office in Kingston then sent the blank permanent residence application to them to fill out and send back to the office in Kingston. They then had to wait to get a letter from immigration in Kingston for a interview. Once the interview was done and approved they were sent to get their medical and criminal check. After everything was done and is good stnading they were given the approval for the visa.

ddunbar,
How long did it take for them to be approved? It sounds like a lot of mailing time in between which would be minimized if all the forms were sent together at once.

To everyone applying outland, the CIC website specifically advises that:

After the person you are sponsoring has filled out all the sponsorship, immigration and region specific forms, they must send them to you with the supporting documents.

Once the all forms are properly filled out and all supporting documents are gathered, you must send the complete application kit to the Case Processing Centre.

Whenever in doubt, read the forms and do as they say to minimize any chances of PRV denial. These are the rules and they are in place for a reason. I would not advise anyone to take chances on what other people may have done or say that goes against what is written in the forms and guides.

I found out that it took one guy 8 months to get his interview and the other guy was called for an interview in 6 months but because there was not enough supporting evidence of the relationship they had to wait another 6 months before he was approved.

Thanks for all the help.

I spoke with my husband and he has a copy of the Permanent Residence Application from the internet and he is going to start filling it out. He has also been able to contact his daughter's mother by getting her number from her family memebers and she is going to send him a letter giving him permission to take their daughter out of Jamaica to come to Canada as a permanent resident and have it signed by a Justice of the Peace along with a copy of her passport photo and signature. So as soon as he gets that he will proceed on to getting a medical for his daughter and himself and a passport for his daughter. He cannot do anything in regards to his daughter until he gets the letter from her mother. We are hoping he will be able to Fed-ex everything to me by the last week of September.
